Blown engine ????

My 1200 motor has developed a sound that resembles a sack full of tin cans being shaken vigirously. It also is showing zero oil pressure at the guage.

It is in a Formula Vee so it was doing about 6000rpm when it went off....my initial thoughts are a spun big end bearing ...any other ideas or input are very welcome...rgds Murph

Ouch. Sorry, it doesn't sound like something you could fix with a tune-up! Sounds to me like something has gone in a big way.

Rebuilding a VW engine is actually a very satisfying way to spend an evening or three after work...

Hi Secoh....I haven't even taken it out of the trailer as yet. As for turning up here I followed your link from PF re the old T3 dumped in the street.

Funny thing was on the way back for the Creek on Sat arvo there was an old Beetle dumped on the side of the M4 that had the 5 lug wheels which the Vees use.
