Just a quick question re. "the Cal-Look"
I don't seem to see to much of it in Aus.

It was pretty big here about 12-15 years ago.. lots of Ovals got chopped and swapped. The the Korean Kit Kars came along and, I dunno, it all just
stopped...

Yes fashions come and go. There were a lot more VWs on the roads back in the 1980s and many of us built cal-lookers then. There are still a number of
them in Club Veedub here in Sydney. The fashion at the moment seems to be resto-custom, which keeps the car looking more standard but updating the
mechanicals. I like that a lot.
Luckily the chop-top sun-bug craze of the '80s died out - lots of otherwise good VWs were destroyed by that. There were a few well-done cars, but
the vast majority were terrible.

Cal-look
Thanks for the replys
Although the Cal-look might be a bit out dated it still looks good. having a '70 beetle which I thinks great the only thing I don't like so
much are the square bumpers . Would love to pull them off.
I currently am crazy for the "pro-stock look" standard beetle lowered , nice wheels and looks like it stepped straight off the qtr mile. If
only I could find a rear wing which doesn't look like an after thought. Havn't seen one yet . Has any body ?. |

This is the only wing I have seen that looks any good.
But the problem is....
The wing sits right up against the rear window.
Could be a cooling problem....

i reckon a wing that sat ABOVE the rear window would be cool, just a little one

Just thought I'd rub it in - no bumpers is legal here in West Oz!
(I'm going to get new chrome strips, however - I like 'em.)

Here is a website that details the history of swedish cal lookers - there are some similarities to what happenned in the rest of the world especially
after about 1980
