Was there talk of the Cab being available in the turbo? Maybe I dreamt it up..

I like the look mate. Nice indicators, nice tails, nice lines.. The concern could be the powerplant selection, sure..

hahahaha... new it wouldn't be long cam... will you have one before valla???? you gonna cruise up with us??

according to the current website the models available are:
Miami (assume the 1.6L) $26k
1.6L 75kW/148Nm $31800
2.0L 85kW/170Nm $36500
1.8T 110kW/210Nm $39500
Cabrio still only listed as the 2.0L but i believe it is the 05 model runouts. Dont know when the new cabs are meant to arrive as i haven't had the chance to speak to our local dealership in a while.
They have a new shape hardtop in the yard and the front dont look too bad.. guess we will get used to it as the guards are a little flattened on the sides. (ready for bolt on flared guards??? lol)

20's don't fit under the NB without cutting the stone guard, or making mods to the strut perch, or making the turning circle about 20 m. They simply foul the inner bits which make the car ride, brake and steer. If you're turning the car into a trailer queen, this may not be an issue for you.

19" wheels are a very tight fit, but will work unless you're at full lock. However your speedo will be out - there are no tyre + rim combos which fix this.

18" plus lowering look the business and do not require any body work. If you go for a +1, your speedo may not be out afterwards.

thanks,
Andrew

mate had a 2000 model nb and the 19 fit know problems with it even lowerd 2 inches lock 2 lock" and there is heaps of room 4 20inch just tyer profile is at a 20 profile wich means big $$$$$ 4 tyers but i get the rims made 2 suit the car should of had 20 b4 thay run 22 in the uk with miniamal mods

I've been a member of newbeetle.org since 2001... and those guys would know a tyre mod if it's possible. I've never seen one. There's an old thread on Google which discusses these issues from 2001 and 2002.

This is not to say it's impossible, just extremely unlikely without cutting the car. If you make it work, post on newbeetle.org - they'll be all over you.

Funny you say that Maya.. Had those as an option in my mind for weeks... Then that pic came up too.. Guess what is my wallpaper? :)

Problem is that they are 18 x 8. Depending where you live, live Vic, maximum is 18 x 7.5(the old 2 up 1 out rule).

Jim... you should check that with your insurance company.
I asked RACV about wheels for the cabrio and they told me anything other than the stock wheels they will not insure for. I asked about the 2up 1out rule and they said that has since been modified to suit individual vehicles... i said ok what about if the wheels are from a standard version of the beetle ie.. another model that has the bigger wheels as standard... the response was NO... does not matter to them... i told them quite clearly that i have no hesitation in shifting my insurance to shannons (who have no probs with ANYTHING i want to do with the cabrio) and RACV just said "that decision is up to you but we cant change the guidelines for one person".

Of course you are welcome... we will probably stay at the same place on the entrance to the F3... but i think this time we will not leave melb till around 10 or 11am so that we dont arrive till about 9 or 10pm.. that way we may misss most of the sydney traffic. hopefully anyway.

more than consideration for me....im investigating them hehehe

id love to go bigger...but it would be so much easier to stick with 18's(if they're by 7.5)...i could just swap the tyres over

INSURANCE--not sure what your racv is like but nrma suck, the most dodgiest payouts to panel beaters. Gregs found suncorp to be the best, they really dont care what i do to the bug. When we had floods back in july, gregs shop went under, bigtime, not even putting cars into the spray booth were saving them. They lost 5 but saved 5...might have been more, notsure. But the next day(friday), suncorp were there to inspect and assess the damage straight away, huge thank yous for saving some cars. nrma wasnt there for more than a week later. they make the beaters repair second hand panels to put back on your virtually brand new car....dodgy

That Cabrio is the old model. It's a Cab a guy in the states has done up. Note the flares, etc.
More pics can be seen here..

This is the new one. Note the indicators, and new lines through the gaurds..

Those guards look like they are from the early RS models-the V6 ones that were fitted with 21" wheels and were used for racing.I had a look at 2 that were racing at the Clipsal 500 a few years back-awesome motor cars.
