Can u Weld Ceramic Coated items?
I have a 1.5 inch merged header & hideaway exhaust that I was going to have Ceramic coated, but I have it all welded up as 1 item as it returns as
a centre mounted outlet like the Porsche Boxter & I find it easier to take on & off this way. I was told that I couldn't have the exhaust
coated the same way inside & out as the header as the baffles wouldn't take it. So I thought that I could just cut the muffler off , have it
done seperately, (outside only) then weld it back on after. It was mentioned by a friend that u couldn't weld something that has been Ceramic
coated. Is this correct?

you will get more informed welding advice than I,
but I believe that if you just grind back ceramic for the weld then no worries.

Could you weld Flange joint on so bolt together later?

Could you overlap the pipes so that just a few small stitches are required to secure later.?

When I had my exhaust coated I was assured it could be welded afterwards. Never tied it though.

Why are You having Your exhaust system Ceramic coated?
Stop Rust?
Make it last longer?
and is it expensive?

From what I understood, the ceramic coating actually improved the weldability.
Best to check with whoever is going to coat it, as I am sure not all coatings would be the same. I have welded a ceramic coated muffler to an uncoated
exhaust pipe before, and didn't have a problem.

Hi
My cermamic coated system has had a few leaks at the flanges and I welded them up no worries, it just destroys the coating in that area.

For a better welding job i suggest that you grind the coating off in the weld area first....
The ceramic coating will act like a slag and probally flow into the weld filler material and give a slag inclusion.
This will weaken the weld,
