wheres the fun for a non regoed buggy in queensland. ??

Why is the rebuild (or rego) seeming unlikely? Is it too far gone to get it into reasonable roadworthy condition?

I remember hearing a while back that QLD might have changed their rules on buggies, is this the reason?

private property only for unlic buggy. it would prob be worth more to someone from a state where licencing was a bit more relaxed (NT/SA).

UK manta rays are an interesting kit, but i wouldnt have one - just dosne t seem right.
AU manta kits were popular, but again, i wouldnt have one- excessibe front overhang and bulbous looks.

my opinion only of course & you dont need to tell me that i have the ugliest buggy of the lot...

uk manta

I reckon you would be better off trying to get a buggy that is already registered and use the one that you have for spares.

Race it. You can use ot for all types of motorsport, from motokhana to hillclimb. You would only be ruled out of touring road rallies. and QRC style events as they need to have at least rally rego. Other than that..........

Motokhana range form specials through to full specials. Yous hold be in the raod car section. As long as its safe, you should be fine. Basically specials are tube frames, all other classes are "road cars". As long as the battery is tied down, you have min of lap belt and the rest is good (eg ball joints etc) you are fine. If you run a lap sash you should be able to run in sprints, khanacross, autocross, hilclimbs etc also.

Where in Qld are you? VWDCQ is cams affiliated and has members that run in motorkhanas. The next event is late jan/early feb and is a come and try motorkhana. If you have any questions, shoot me a email drew.crossley@gil.com.au ( i may take a week or so to reply form that address) as iam the new pres for VWDCQ.

I'm new to a lot of this and the rules, etc. You say above:

'problems are getting a SWB buggy regestered and complianced is looking to be getting too troublesom'

How much work does it need? I bought a SWB buggy earlier this year and I'll admit it took some work, but I got it rego'd here in Canberra recently. They were very picky and certainly I had some angry moments, but I got there and now am glad I stuck with it.

I looked at the work I had to do and thought it would take yonks, however persevered and got there. Of course, I know not a lot about these beasties (learning!), and certainly don't know the condition of yours.

** I'd also like to insert a gratuitous plug of thanks to all the off-roaders on this forum that helped me in my many hours of need **
