Dual Weber question
I have just had dual webbers thrown on my 1776 Dual Cab Ute, and the performance is very noticeable, however the motor is sneezing or farting (choose
anyword you like to describe the sound but Im sure you know what I mean (soft backfiring)) mostly when I'm gearing down. Does anyone know what I
can do to remedy this? or can someone kindly suggest a professional with VW and weber experience in the Sydney area who I can take it into? Thanks

Ok it is jetting
sneezing out the top of the carb is LEAN
Backfiring out the exhaust is RICH
It all depends where it is popping and farting.
Idle - 2000 idle jets
2000 - 3500 main
3500+ airs
need the right E tubes and vents as well
Tell us what you have to start.
IF you dont know look in the Redline site and you will find an expoled picture that will tell you where everything is.
It might be a simple mixture / air bypass / idle screw adjust
What are they 36's, 40's, 44's?
36's not have air bypasses
Also make sure there are no air leaks in the manifolds. That will cause a lean pop as well.
I learned a bad coil will cause this. I went through hell trying to jet my suckers. Turned out my jetting was right - my coil was dying under the
heavier load and breaking down.
Start with new points, plugs coil etc etc and go from there.
It is expensive to give it too some one. It will take a few hours and a few jets to get it right.
You could TRY
V Force
Vintage Vee Dub
CBS @ Burwood
Ask more questions
We WILL get them right

Mate, thanks for the info, I will have a look @ the websites you sent through but to be honest I don't think I have the confidence playing around
with the set up. They are 40 idf webers with berg linkage set and manifolds. I've had a exhaust and extractors fitted and went over it to make
sure their were no air leaks and am pretty sure there wasn't any. I'm pretty sure it only a simple mixture / air bypass / idle screw adjust
but am not sure where to start. I have had some previous word done on my previous carb set up from the boy's at CBS who do a pretty good job and
Vitage but as you said the are $$$$$ pricy. I live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney it woulf be nice if somone whith experience can have a play and if
it's discovered that a simple adjustment doesn't fix it then I would be prepared to take it to CBS or similar, any more great suggestions
would be greatly appreciated?
