anyone have an idea why my t3 caravels auto works really well except when cold than it won't change into 3rd until it gets warm after that you can't tell when it changes its been serviced and nothing was found except for a small piece of flat metal about 1 centametet square the service guy said that these showed up some times no worries can some one tell me if this is a common problem and if there is a fix

now that the weather is getting cooler the piston seals in the auto are harder which allows the shift to work at the correct pressure...as the auto warms up eg the oil the seals soften which allows 3rd gear selection ..this is a common prob with higher mileage auto boxes..needs to be overhauled..eg news seals and clutches are in order ..swan transmission sell a kit for overhaul for about 500 bucks ..hope this sheds a little light ...cheers steve
