Painting the body seperately from guards.

I'm wanting to get my 61 Cabrio project moving. Now I've been waiting for 2 years for someone to make up some widened guards for me (I'm putting Porsche brakes and wheels on it)

Is it a bad idea to get the body painted (I'm going for a simple VW white) and get the guards painted later? The guards maybe glass or widened stock metal at this stage.

Is this a big no-no, all you paint and body guys.

Thanks

Steve
