Gearbox....what happened to 2nd???


Bumped into Steve Muller today and two of his friends..sorry cant remember your forum names...anyway took one for a spin and on the hard change(bit flat) into second it wheel spun for a second then bang...rattle, rattle. Second is no longer...wll be calling Albins tomorrow for a new set of gears....with a tall 4th for the snow trips this year. Clutch had started to slip a little anyway and the new motor can now go in......cant wait!

Did I???? I will have to have a look.

Motor and box out this afternoon, dropped it and another one over to Steve Natolis house..where he is going to swap the 3rd/4th and super diff into another stock box I had. Said I can pick up tomorrow arvo...sweet.

It is a single side plate 3.88r&p. I have been thrashing the life out of the car, I will have to just soften the grab to second....off to the drags in a week or so!

The detroyed gears or just the box in general???

The box, motor is back in, although ran out of time at 3.30am. had to put back in old motor, as the new motor has a different intake manifold and i decided to make raiser plates to adapt the old manifold. they are 32mm thick alloy plate with the intakes hand ported. needless to say it took me more than a day to complete one, and as I need the car back, and still need to weld up a new short sump, new stainless exhaust and possibly a custom plenum chamber and bigger throttle body....the old motor will be fine.
