bead blasting
Hi, I need some advice. About to get my type 34 doors and bonnets blasted and wanted to know whether Redistrip was the better option. Have heard
reports of blasting causing distortion. Is this the case? Have also heard that dipping leaves behind residue which gets into the seams and eventually
corrodes away the metal?
Looking for the best way to strip the paint without causing any further damage to the metal or the areas that need rust repair.

My panel beater had an old classic alfa romeo in his shop which had been acid dipped and he showed me where the residue sat and started
corrosion,between panel welds/joins and also the places not visible or accessable, he was strongly against dipping,
Bead blasting shouldnt be a problem, as long as they are experienced in blasting sheet metal and dont treat it like a piece of railway line,
I wouldnt let them blast the door skins, rather just the inside and outside edges and do the skins by hand stripping, I had doors blasted only to be
told by my panel beater they were warped beyond repair , a big lesson learned, as these guys didnt know how to treat sheet metal, although the bonnet
turned out okay maybe cause of the curve in it?

As I understand it, bead blasting is unlikely to cause distortion. I had my whole splitty bead blasted and nothing was distorted. Sand blasting on
the other will cause distortion unless carefully applied by a skilled operator.
There is a big difference between the two processes, so confirm which will be used.
