golf mk 3 abs
well its happened ,my newly aquired mk3 cabrio has decided to turn on a warning light,
Intermittant abs warning light ,perhaps every 5-10 starts the light wont go out,not dependant on time or temperature or any other variable that i can
find, does anybody know the abs system? i have checked the electrics and it seems ok and i am assuming the light is a pressure driven sensor on the
pump,is there anything else it looks at ? i thought the pump only armed after the car was moving but this light appears whilst stationary ,in most
cases it just goes out after start up
anybody have a clue where to look next?:o
i have reciepts to show pads and disc machining a while ago and i also checked fluid levels, cant go back to the brake shop as its interstate

I'd be checking the wires that go to the sensors on the rotors. There is a plastic deally that guides the wires, one to the caliper and one to the
rear side of the rotor. The cable going to the caliper broke on mine. My problem was a constant light but it may give you somewhere to start.

Hunt down someone with VAG-COM to scan your car. If teh light is on, the fault will be logged and tell you which area to look at.
In my experience it's the sensors that play up.
Alternative method.
You can check each sensor with a voltmeter set on resistance. Compare all 4 and change the odd one.
Front should be near the stryt towers, the rears under the back seat.
