VW Nationals

:vader Hello all, long time no post!
Went to the nationals today....some damn nice cars there. I got to meet a few aussie vee dubbers and had a great time.
I also met up with Mike Sharp and collected my new webbers and cam that he imported from the states which will be going in my new Sharpbuilt GS Limo LWB Buggy. I am also selling my house and moving to the sunshine coast in Qld. so I hope to meet up with some Queensland buggers. That's all from me........bye for now.

VW SPECTACULAR @ Nambucca Heads !!!

Well Kombi Kim, You will have to make sure You go to Nambucca heads on the 1st weekend in August for the BIGGEST VW Spectacular YOU have ever seen... Its AWESOME.. Imagine a Main street of a town just FULL of Volkswagens for over an Hour , on a Saturday Morning. If You thought the Nationals were great (and I'm NOT knocking the yearly VW Nationals event) the Nambucca - Valla Park - VW Spectacular is -"different-" a weekend or 3 or 4 day venue in a small town is just "UNREAL"- there are VWs EVERYWHERE You Look... Most People make it a FAMILY weekend or more ... I'm going up on Friday and coming home Monday... Hopefully in My "NEWLY" Restored 68AutoBug .. It JUST HAS to be Finished by then.... and registered...

Great day met a few VDFPs. Really great show i walked around and around and around suddenly realised that 4 hours had dissapeared and i still wanted another round.
Congratulations to Dave and all those others involved .
Great turn out for a poor weather day great venue especially for that reason.
The thought that had gone into the kids was fantasic I will bring the gromets next year ,those kids painting the bugs were having a ball.
That for sale 13 window just inside the car park gate (and a couple of others parked in there) should have been inside. Any one know what sort of money for that thing? I can only dream.

I'm just sorry I didn't have my Baja there.
The name tags are great I'm going to put it with the name sticker Bronze made for the Forum last year.

Hi Dave,
Did You count My Son Scott & Myself & 56blackoval & Alex from Toowoomba?
Silver was there (somewhere) ...
I must confess that I didn't actually look at all the VWs displayed. I was busy what I do best... talking... and buying parts for My 68Autobug. Oh! and Dave, I DID buy some parts from VVDS stand...
See You all at Nambucca for the VW Spectacular in August.. :thumb:D:o:thumb:bounce:bounce:bounce:bounce

Dave do Club VD mebers get free entry to the Nats ? I was wondering cause it might work well (or it might not) for you guys to package the two so that at the gate you may attract more memberships as people are forking out they might dig a little deeper and spring for membershipp as well. Just a thought.
BTW I think the $10 is pretty good value.

Excellent day guys:)

So good to meet up with some of you

Adz where were you? Asking people if you were there. We were probably passing each other and didn't know it.

Jay and Amazer thought that they had lost me only because I didn't know about the 1st turbo circuit of the swap stalls. Somehow I got staight into looking closely at stuff for sale

Due to the lack of sleep the night before I kept moving all day, didn't want to crash:sandrine

toybug was very pleased with the vent windows I got for his kombi's front doors:thumb

Took lots of pics, now have to have them put on disc. Some very nice Vee Dubbs there:cool:

Congrats to the winners of trophies, so much work had gone into the cars

So glad I made it up to Sydney if only for the day

I was so busy trying to catch up with all I knew and meet those from this forum that I missed some of the good cars, Glad that some of the pics on this forum showed me.
It was a great day, for me more the people , the cars were excellent.
There were exceptional ones, like Leigh's car , very inspirational, the V8 LPG stretch Bus "just a tow car for the drag Bug ".
got to hear my favourite sound - Roaring supercharged VW motor.
-
My children had great fun " face painting, model making , colouring , jumping castle " which left more time for me to talk...Great.

Hey Adz:)

Apparently Jay and Amazer got worried about me there at one stage when we got seperated. Somehow lost sight of each other. Mind you Jay and I were half asleep and in automatic mode. We did intend to power nap on the plane but forgot and talked all the way.

I was in black jeans and denim jacket or lacy top (depending on what time of day, it got warm) Had two bags (one daypack, 1 duffle bag) and one camera over my shoulders.

Lost my name tag about 5 times during the day and had to keep retracing my steps to find it:jesus

Mmm, a ladyfriend hey:cool:

Was at both meetings up of the AussieVeeDubbers

Hi

Thanks to everyone who attended, VW shows would not happen without VW people building cars and turning up to VW shows. VW owners are mostly fantastic people, unlike fans of some other car makes.

Nice to meet you bugboymatt, in case anyone didn't hear bugboymatt has bought a bug with a reputation, its Adam "Hamo" Hamiltons old 1500 bug.

It was great meeting everyone, I was busy every time a meeting was called. Hopefully we can get together at Nambucca. The thing I like about Nambucca is that I don't have to worry about anything other than having a good time, anyone who has anything to do with organising a VW show would share my sentiments.

I'm uploading photos now to the Club VeeDub site, I fell asleep at the keyboard Sunday night, I was up at 5 am Sunday after getting home at midnight Saturday night. I still have a heap more photos to load in the next few days so keep checking back.

I dont know what can be done about all the good cars in the car park, its a problem at all VW shows.

David, I didn't enter my car because I didn't have time to prepare it properly.

1302Steve
