kombi with wooden house/pirate ship on the roof

weirdest kombi ive seen so far, at bondi, it was green and if it was a single cab, then where the tray would be and built over the top of the cabin was a wooden structure, very ornate, resembeld a pirate ship, even had a chimney. anyone seen this b4?

on Christmas day it was Blaxland, spends most of its time up the Blue Mountains, - I said a quick hello to the guy, he seems to live in it with his dog, the inside is just as ornate

Yep... I had the pleasure of meeting this guy in Huskisson a couple of months back, his name's Jack... a really nice bloke. he's leaning on the side of a Kombi enthusiast and rather knows his stuff. :tu:

I have pics of the interior on my phone I think... it really is a piece of work inside and out!
It's a Sopru camper that has had the poptop popped up then the wooden superstructure built up around it and a fiberglass fairing fabbed for the front to turn it into a very interesting hightop as per the pics.

The sliding door has been welded shut and the wooden door you can see in the pics has been cut in, said door has frosted glass in it. As Kim said it has a little antique woodfired stove just inside the door hence the chimney, and a rather flash fridge innthe usual spot. There are ornate cupboards and shelves and spiceracks built up around the inside of the high roof, and all this new-age decoration. there is even a little 10 inch LCD screen in the back right hand corner which he uses for his viewing pleasure. :) He has built up full height walls either side of the walkthrough behind the seatboxes, and placed a door between them at the back of the walkthrough, effectively seperating the living quarters from the front cab. Oh and painted in the poptop headlining is one of the most beautiful paintings Ive seen in quite a long time. The whole car really is an artwork.

He bought the Kombi and turned it into the marvel it is now after selling his 1930's Dodge truck which was laid out in the same fashion.

I have his number and was going to invite him along to the Kombi CLub Bus Stop this year... was quite keen to get to a few more VW do's... :tu:

Cheers!
