My 59 Bug - a few newies
Well I'll start with an introduction, I'm Michael, been a VW fan for a while, got some magazines dating back to 98 and plenty of VW models, but
never had the right chance to buy a beetle. I've always wanted something else more at certain times, but kept a keen eye out for the right VW. Being
a rotor boy at heart I've had a few RX3s and my last was an R100 but time for a change.....always only liked a certain style of bug and had to be pre
60s, but never knew enough about them to build one and haven't really seen many I like for sale. Now to the one I bought, the timing was right, spare
$$$ so I hopped on a plane and went to buy it from VIC. Its Brad's(65busser) old one and I've had it for 6 days now. I must thank Brad for his help
and being a bad time of year for all this he's done well to help me get the sort of bug I've always wanted.
Its still pretty much the same as when he sold it to me, and thats probably the way it will stay as I like it so much. I have added a few stickers to
my liking, and also put some smoothie mini-moon style caps on it, I'm not sure if I prefer them or the embossed VW caps more yet....but I can swap
between depending(feel free to give opinions on them). Got it registered on Thursday and fitted my FKD15 plates which I've had for a while....yes
they say F*CK THIS....kinda no real meaning but I like them. Got a few more little accessory bolt-ons coming, and wouldn't mind a rack and maybe some
eyelids....but undecided on those for now. Also still tossing up on fitting some neat little bullet indicators, just so other motorists know whats
going on....gotta be careful with just semaphores, most people have no idea whats going on!
So anyway, some quick snaps I took today!
pics below thanks to reub_revhead!!...thanks

thanks Brad, the caps are cool, they look less domed havng no emblem to define the point, gives it a bit more of an old rod look, so carrying on with
your theme there....just going to drive it, cruise it and do a few little things for now....no massive plans, you took care of most of it!
I'm really loving it, the original paperwork was a good read.....good ol' Edger Grills had nothing better to do in 1959 on New Years Eve, so he went
and got his bug registered!

Thats a sweet ride Mike. Everything goes together so well.
I too love the Rotary's...especially the R100.
Got any pics of your RX3's? I(we) would love to see them.

I've got plenty of pics of the R100, but unfortunately the RX3's were pre-digicam so I don't have any on the computer, just normal prints.
hopefully this pic works this time, this was my R100 I built.
and go to the link below if you want to see some pics and a bit of a story about the R100

thanks for that, but your 73 was pretty damn tidy, and there are a few others getting around which are pretty neat, mines more of a tidy original
example moreso than an immaculate one though!
Dubs by the Pub is on my calendar, I'll be there if all things go well and I don't have to work. Should be good!
