Hi

fitting Air con to a beetle isn't as easy as any other car...
engine is in the rear..
condenser in the front of car....
Compressor is in rear of car....
cooling unit under the dash.... [??]

so its unlike the majority of other cars...

Yeah, cheers lads, i understand the complexity of the issue. Im putting in an Ej20T into the bug, so I've already got the compressor and the condensor, it was more about how positioning of the actual unit, weather people had put it under the dash in the car or removed the glove box, or put it behind the dash. also how people have vented the system, either by using the factory vents or custom ones.

My origional plan was to use the aircon unit out of the WRX front cut, and the aircon controls glassed into the dash. But when you put the unit, (header, condensor and fan) under the front, you see how big it is. So I think im going to have to go with the vintage set up.

Any ones imput is appreciated. Thanks.

Also have a look at some of the newer micro cars, they have bugger all room to fit them in so could be a good swap

That's what I did (except I had my KLZE V6 front cut). Sure it took up most of the room under the bonnet, but it is useless room anyway :)

And digital climate control is way cooler than those under dash units...
