Good little car, its the golf runnign gear, with a fair bit of the interior to but its all put togeather in the spanish plant. all the important parts..engine suspension etc are all vw. the body panels are seat and not of the same grade as the vw's but they are still better than a fair few i could mention. Seats are basicly a cheap vw, they use the proven bits from the vw range in them and glam the styling up to make them different. dont expect upto date tech cuz when vw revamps, upgrades or replaces the seats normaly get the discontined parts( nothign wrong or bad just vws constant drive to better ).

I have owned a few over the years(while still in the uk) and found them to be great, reliable fun cars worth every cent if u ask me. vws great product in a cheaper shell who can complain about that??

Seats are all vw made in germany cept the body (Spain) there they are assembled. prob 35% less pricey than a Golf of same yr.

mine is 96 and has done 270,000 and 6.5L /100kms

they run well on premium but have retarded mine so no eng ping and can use unleaded.

still nippy and handles well
try vw watercooled site for lots of ppl wid Ibiza, Cupra Toledos too. al spanish. golf Loon hd parts and knowledge.
Mine needed a clutch @195,000 thats all so far !!! enjoy

Cool wondering if it would be uncultured to plant a vw badge on there somewhere?
Apparently the bloke justr spent 500bucks on the motor and says there is nothing else wrong with it other than the power windows are not working, but then again he has all the parts.
so far so good.
Still for a G it seems to b a bargain.

Top car.
Green looks sweet too btw :thumb

Wheels are 4x100 pcd. same as Golf 3, so those 18" chromies that are for sale on here at the moment would bolt straight on and look awesome.

we used to have a Cordoba. Very under rated car.
Traded it on the Golf 4

They are VW design made in Spain (I never read anywhere that they were assembeld in Germany) and share many/most bits with Golf and/or Polo depending on year. Good cars - I tested a GTi when it was new (1995, I think) and loved it. $1G would be a bargain getaround car!!

Apart from high K's the seller assures me it runs perfectly, no tinkers or rattles under the hood.
So heres hoping.
Spain hey makes sense i searched the web and these cars can be made into a serious weapon, if u like front wheel drives.
But as it is for the ledest girl i guess a lairy green is a good visible colour.

Hey VWtypII those chromies are i think a little big shit 18'sx 7's on a tiny little 1.6ltr and a learner girl driver wouldnt want to scratch them but worth a look none the less. Hmmmm
If they were a five stud theyd be sold and i would shove them on the T3 Caravelle.

OK vehicle on the deck.
Had a full average respray in the green seen used to b a turquise colour. Not a bad job just a few runs and colour fades. Two bits of rust in rear below brake/blinkers, not major.
Interior is decent been used.
Here is the question the previous be it 1st or 2nd owner removed the steering wheel at some point and has somehow shorted the horn/Broke.
I have no power at the horn terminals fuses are good horn is attached/wired.
Copper contact point is making contact with rear of steering wheel but still no power.
What else to try????

Motor is running someone has done a real bodge job of Carb 2 mainfold mount and added a shit load of silicone to make seal. Havent attacked it yet but hopefully it's just a simple gasket but judging by the amount of silicone i am thinking maybe more so broken studs/stripped bolts. Who knows shit load of silicone, still runs slight flutter when hard accel on the spot.

The good
Crikey dont these things go hard 100k's 2nd gear at 6500rpm, and gets there quick.
Body straight.

She's stoked it's not quite a VeeDubb but it's got a Volksi heart.

Good cars SEATs mate. The engines are made in Germany, bodys are bolted in Spain.

Its a 1.8L, not a 1.6 and it has singlepoint injection, not a carby.

The baseplate bit you are on about often break and can be easily replaced.

try http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au  for SEAT info

Matt at CamdenGTI can help you with cheap parts.

cheers.
Already found my way to this site and it has helped heaps already, as said not my car so when she wants to drive it then she has to fix it. I just wish she would become enthusiastic, soon. Boys, school, work, boys school, boys work, same old same old.
At least she will be paying for her own parts. Not going down that road.

Hey mate,

AHHH my 1st post.

As mentioned the Seats carry the same components and the Golf. The Seat is a very underated car, though i think they are great. The car looks in great nic.

When it comes to work on these car the good thing is that there are heaps of VW Watercooled specialist out there.

Best Of Luck
