T3 Syncro clutch?

I have a '90 model Syncro that feels like it needs a new clutch, is it easier to drop the gearbox like a normal 2WD T3, or is it easier to drop the engine in a Syncro to do the clutch?

dont forget the under carrage bush bars, also the propshaft. if its the 2.1mv lower the box n motor together the remove the starter, its a total pig when the motor n box are up in position!
theres also the diff lock (if fitted) and the breather for the gearbox but i'm sure you'll find em when you do the job!

Dave when the g/box is out a handy hint is to change the lower starter stod and nut with a bolt....this allows easy removal of the starter if in the future it reguires o/haull..also if you plan to do a lot of water crossings use a sealant between bell housing and motor.....oh yer have fun cheers steve

MMMMM starter, funny you should say that, It had a dead starter when I bought it, swapped if for my spare one, what a @$%# of a job, and this thing had that much dirt under it, that all ended up in my eyes, anyhow starter all all fitted, turned the key, and still nothing, the spare starter was also dead, so I did the job twice, not happy

Took it for a bit off a bash in Kangaroo valley, wow, they are fun off road!! might be keepin' this one for a while!!

OH someone shouldve had told you they are a shit load heavier than a 2wd box. Or have you already learnt this?

When did u buy a hoist?
Is it a mobile hoist?
Can i borrow the hoist?
I really need a hoist?
My back hurts?
A hoist would make it feel so much better..

Keep the steering and the propulsion seperate . Still a Kombi...

It's all good, until it's bad, i suppose

Pretty sure starter is accessed easy by removing air filter and airflow meter and hoses.

yes you can get to the bolts etc easier but its still a a pig of a thing to get out, its just far too tight against the fuel tank! espesh with the insulation on the tank, i ripped mine but i stuck it back!

you can't beat the dirt in the eye, one of my favourites is doing the job after its rained or you washed it, the drip down the neck or in the eye! a real beuty
