Mufflers

Just curious to see what type of muffler everyone is using on their subaru conversion and if they are running a catalytic converter. I have a Borla Pro XS muffler that I am currently very unhappy with. At idle it has a nice quite tone but at half to full throttle its louder than Hell. Plus as the the engine is revving down it seems like the exhaust tone is all wrong. Like the muffler is to big or there is no backpressure. And that is me just guessing. Plus I am not running a cat. Thinking about buying the cheapest muffler just to see if it is the muffler. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The ones I have seen/been involved with use a 2-inch straight-through glass pack and a cat (must be fitted in Australia) and have a nice burble, no real Hell-like noises

Hi

I used a 3 inch Hooker Headers Aero chamber muffler on my turbo WBX, I'm going to use it again on my suby. It had very deep sound and was not noisy at higher revs.

Anyone ever put one of these varex mufflers on a type 1 engine?

Not sure how the space would work. Maybe attached to a sidewinder style, tucked up to the side?
