Updated forum software - please report any bugs here

Hi there,

This is the latest and greatest build of UltimaBB. There are over 600 fixes between the version we were running and this version.

There are some functionality changes:

  • U2U are now called Personal Messages (PM's). Don't worry, nothing has been lost
  • You can now upload photos and avatars. I've set the size to be bigger as well (125x124, 15k)
  • You can upload larger images (upto 800x600). Images now have better controls on them.
  • Forum jump works properly

I've had to reset a number of things, and some will be added back, others will not. For example, all the old themes we had will be coming back over the next few hours. Other things like large post icons and so on will be taking a short break whilst I locate them again.

No software is without bugs. If you find any issues, please report them here, and I will make sure that they get fixed.

Kinda liked being able to personalise AVD with a bit of colour, liked the choices before. Can this be fixed back to how it was with the colour selection?

The other themes will becoming back, just need to get images working again. The other messages are debug messages and I will be getting rid of those as soon as we have images again.

They're down everywhere. The problem is that PHP is now inserting a newline between the headers and the start of the image. I can't seem to make it not do this. It's now nearly 3 am, and I can't see the screen any more. So I'm going to get a few hours sleep and see if I can nut it out tomorrow.

Sorry to leave you in the lurch like this folks, but it will work - I just have to find the ONE single call that is causing this issue and kill it.

1. Fix Images
2. Re-install themes
3. Undefined variable (see above)
4. forum -> forums .htaccess

Gentlemen,
I only joined this forum two months ago today, so I am very much a neophyte here.
Many thanks to those of you who have welcomed me.
I had a few problems with the mechanics of things here, and Andrew has been very helpful in resolving them for me.
I can't imagine the amount of work keeping this forum going and fixing problems, but I'd like to state I for one appreciate Andrew's efforts.

Now we have some new software which has been installed and I believe I'm not fully up to speed enough at the site to fully appreciate what it offers.
The one thing I have noted at the forum where I spend the bulk of my time at Aussieveedubbers is the new "Sub-forums" under the Country Buggies
Forum header.
Upon opening the new forum format I realized the info I was accustomed to viewing wasn't on the same page but rather was linked to other locations.....specificially CB Parts - Wanted & 4 Sale, KO Register, History, and CB Tech Info.

I'm not sure this fragmenting of the CB info is advantageous to CB forum readers for ease of usage.
These sub-forum categories require more clicking around to search for info.
The main advantage for the previous display arrangement was all the CB info was linked from one page.....that included the info that has now been placed elsewhere in "sub-forums".
This arrangement made it very easy to see if someone had posted a new message to any CB category......it was all there on one page.
This was a similar arrangement to The Samba format which has "Sticky" and "Announcements" carried permanently at the top of the forum page, and frankly this makes the most sense to me. Since there is a limited volume of Country Buggy information as compared with other VW models, why fragment that info more?
Keeping all the info links on one page makes the most sense to me, and honestly makes the information much easier to view and access.

I see no advantage for users of the CB Forum with the inclusion of this new "Sub-forums" feature.
I feel it is a hindrance to the use of the CB forum.
I'd like to see these sub-forum categories returned to the main Country Buggy forum page.
Just my two cents worth.

Regards,
Steve

Thanks for the effort Andrew - hopefully someone can step up to be your technical helper soon. I'd offer but I have NFI on the technical side of things unfortunately (give me a spanner and I'm right, give me a keyboard and an error message and I'm screwed).

Also a minor (but annoying) issue that has re-appeared,

when I click on "Topic Activity" and scroll down to a topic and click on that, and then return to the "Topic Activity" page it returns to the TOP of the page and not where I was.

Used to do it once before and was fixed.

Notice: Undefined index:???

Andrew,
What is all the info being displayed between the ad banner and the subject thread postings?
It reads as follows:
Notice: Undefined index: allowavatars in /var/www/avds/forums/viewtopic.php on line 826

Notice: Undefined index: stars in /var/www/avds/forums/viewtopic.php on line 846

Notice: Undefined index: title in /var/www/avds/forums/viewtopic.php on line 933

Also, over the the Country Buggies forum on pages there is a similar message displayed between the ad banner and the "sort by" banner.
It reads as follows:
Notice: Undefined variable: subforum in /var/www/avds/forums/viewforum.php(650) : eval()'d code on line 3

I have no clue what any of this means, I only know it is something that is distracting and something that certainly wasn't there before.
I would assume it relates to some technical issue or glitch.
Is it something you can take a look at?
Thanks.

Regards,
Steve
