Australian Hillclimb Championships, Mt Cotton 2-4 November

Don't think there's a post running on this yet, so figured might as well start one...

Practice on the Friday and Saturday, then competition on the Sunday. Entries I think are closed now but haven't been published yet.

I'm going to be running with my bug Jezebel, and since am normally the only bug running it'd be nice to know if we're gonna have some company again.....so who else is planning on running ???

:)

I wouldn't mind coming and having a look, although it clashes with the re-scheduled jamboree.
All the best though.....:tu:

Thanks for the luck Stanley - no matter what my times are like, I'm bound to have fun !!!

The entry list is up, although I'm sandwiched in a sea of Dattos and Escorts, there is one other beetle running to keep Jezebel company - in a different category and with a 2500cc engine though, so bound to be quicker than me !!!

Some interesting cars on the list... Stan Pobjoy with his special (I assume with blower, even tho it lists 1916 on the entry list), Peter Gumley with his monster of course and also the insanely quick McLaren F1 based Gould hillclimb special from Ballarat.

Really looking forward to it - one last burst of work on the car this weekend, and then good to go. :tu:

Good Luck

Usually I would be entered at Noosa the following weekend- but work has sidelined me so I will most likely pop out in Herbie on the Saturday and have a lookie.

Will probably aim at doing a few Mt Cottons next year but given I am only a 1600tp I wont be anywhere near competition for you- let alone the 2500 (who is that anyways)

Good luck mate- will call past and say hello.

Peter

Is the 2500 the green local one? It used to run allot.

Don't worry dave the rims go off to the powder coater next week and brutal is moving to my place, so i can work on it at night when i bored. So should be all set for december and next year!!

Don't have much info on the other beetle, really just what's on the entry list - "#171 Greg Turnham VW Beetle 2500cc Green" running in Sports Cars closed 1601cc & over.

http://www.mgccq.org.au/AHC%20Nov%202007%20Supp%20Regs.pdf

Also got my paddock map today - we're going to be pit neighbors for the weekend, so that'll be cool.

Good that Brutal is getting closer to ready... lookin forward to seeing you run BiX !!! Well, more like "hear you run" since guessing we'd run the same class, which makes spectating a bit tough...

Yeah, sorry folks - been totally away from computers all last week, so didn't get to update.

AHC was awesome - managed I think 10 runs across the 3 days without any real mishaps, and improved by a second over my previous best time - now down into the 54's and low 55's, which I'm stoked with. Learned a few more tricks to try to, so hopefully might get 53's by the end of the year yet. Tell ya what tho BiX - Greg's green beetle is stupdily quick with some interesting gear on it, and man does he drive it well !!!

Nice to chat with a few people who dropped in to say Hi - with BiX plus Brisdubba and Vassy who are also talking about maybe running next year - it'd be great to see a horde of Hillclimb beetles in Qld like there seems to be down in NSW.

Good work Sides... good to catch up with you.

You are right about Greg and his driving...... I would give him the fastest gear change of the weekend award!

The work on the beetle is starting before Christmas with setups and necessary purchases being made in the next couple of weeks ...

Do you know where to find the 6 point Kafer cup bar?

cheers

Yeah - good question - used to be a few places around doing the 5 point ones, but everyone seems to have dropped them. Maybe a rule change in the overseas classes and no-one's interested in producing them any more ??? Pretty sure VWMA Editor said he had one coming - maybe shoot him a PM.

Other than that there just seems to be the 3 point ones left. Mine I got from a guy on thesamba who used to make them, but he's since given it away. It's VERY close to what Aircooled.net have now - looks like maybe just the colour that's different. Mine only const about half what they're asking tho - http://www.aircooled.net/new-bin/viewproductdetail.php?keyword2=DRC0006&c...

Bugpack also have one, but I've seen a few not-so-great reviews on it for both design and quality.

So yeah - not a great answer for ya unfortunately...
