VW Beetle restoration body and paint question

Hi,

I've got a 1964 Beetle that creaks and the doors sometimes pop out when I got over a big pothole.

I'm thinking of giving it a repaint. I have a cousin who works as a professional panel beater and he's offered to lend me a hand.

He wants to do a through job- and is going to strip it down to bare metal, cut and weld any rust spots.

He wants me to get the gromits and rubbers for the VW to make his job easier.

I've alrady got the fender rubbers. Is there also a body rubber for the chassis + car shell? What else should I get?

Yes, there is a rubber between the body and pan, but you probably won't have to remove/replace it. You can buy every rubber from a VW specialist

Sort out why your door is popping open befoe you begin any other work. Is it rust wekending the body? Or just a matter of adjustment?

No, it doesn't happen that often. Only when I go over a big bump very quickly. Doesn't happen often.

Its just the door latch. Prob needs adjusting. No rust.
