Big Brake help

hey guys

I got what I think is standard type 3 drum hub mated to front type 3 disks with RX7 callipers see pic:

What I am finding is the car isn't stoping to well, if I brake to hard the front lock, what do you guys recommend, different callipers, vented disks, slotted maybe or bigger disks or should I invest in a portioning valve and put more bias to the rear?

Hi

What size piston is in the calliper. Looks like the rotors need a skim and callipers could also need an overhaul along with some decent pads. A proportioning valve only takes away braking force, so if your fronts are locking and you fit a proportioning valve on the front you will up with an overall lower brake efficiency.

How does that handbrake work?!

As Steve hinted, it might be best to make sure your brakes are in GOOD condition and actually working properly (at each end of the car) before diagnosing any problems of system bias. Having said that, the fronts should lock before the rears

the brakes work fine (just rusty from a hard run then parked in the rain all winter) the pads are new and have been changed to a softer compound, handbrake works well but i still want a upgrade. i want it to stop on a dime!
