mysterious ugly reflectors!

Hoping someone might be able to help.. had someone suggest that the "ugly" reflectors on the front and back of my Ghia may have been because it was originally from South Africa... anyone know anything more about this???? If i could work out how to put a photo on i would... red at back... white at front

any help muchly appreciated!

Have seen them on US cars too. About 60mm diameter?

You are correct...

You will see them on all rally cars when they are south africa..

and all the beetles etc I've seen pics of from South Africa ALL have these reflectors...

there is a Metallic green Beetle [in Australia] from South Africa with these reflectors on it

I have a pic of the front and they are next to the headlamps..

If they look like this they are a californian spec Karmann Ghia, my Ghia had em and i have swiftly removed them.

I have never seen them on a South African car.

they are actually on the back of the car not the site.. which is something the yanks did to their car to make them...um..ugly

if i can work out how to put a photo on i will attach one for viewing...the rear ones (on the back) also have a red sticker under - so i guess the person with the drill :sniffle: could drill in the right spot and minimize the risk to the paint!!
