Petrol Prices
Just wondering if anyone else out there recieved this email.

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy
petrol on a certain day' campaign that was going around
last April or May!

We are going to hit $ 2.00 a litre and it might go higher!!
Want petrol prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil
companies just laughed at last year's action because
they knew we would not continue to 'hurt' ourselves
by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience
to us than it was a problem for them. BUT whoever thought
of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.
Please read on and join with us!
By now, you're probably thinking petrol priced at about
$1.50 is cheap.
It is currently $1.90 for regular unleaded.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have
conditioned us to think that the cost of a liter of gas is
CHEAP at $1.50, we need to take aggressive action to teach
them that BUYERS control the marketplace...not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we
consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come
down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not
purchasing their petrol! And, we can do that WITHOUT
hurting ourselves.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop
buying petrol.
But we CAN have an impact on petrol prices if we all act
together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T
purchase ANY petrol from BP
the biggest price-up driver company.
If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined
to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the
other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions
of BP petrol buyers. It's SO simple!
Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading
and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions and
even BILLIONS of people!!
I am sending this note to 20 people.
If each of you sends it on to at least twenty more
that's (20 x 20 = 400) ..
And those 400 send it to at least twenty more (400 x 20 =
8000 ... and so on,
by the time the message reaches the fifth group of people,
we will have reached over SIXTY FOUR MILLION consumers!!!!!
20x20 = 400
400x20 = 8,000
8,000x20 = 160,000
160,000x20 = 3,200,000
3,200,000x20 = 64,000,000
64,000,000x20 = 12,800,000,000
That's 12.80 Billion people folks, who will have been
contacted!!!!!
Unbelievable?? Do the math and see for yourself!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 20 people.

I don't buy bp fuel anyway as I have a shell card.
Would be good if this happened but some how I don't think it ever will. Not in the real world.

yeah well hmmm... so what has the gajillionaire ex coke bigwig got to gain from this type of ploy.. i wonder..
4 me - i only run BP 98 in the beetle as the rest of the fuels are shite.. ( i have noted more go.. hence my custom) IMO
+ the 95 RON i run in the bikes + the diesel in the T4 has never given me any probs..
im after quality fuel for my vehicles not doo gooding n water vapor save 0.0201 cents type of gimmicks and pay heaps for food as everyone needs to eat
type of deal..
honestly fuel $ in this country are still cheap when compared to other countries..
a report i read today states that oz is the 4th cheapest on this planet today.. ??
when i was in europe 4 years ago fuel was over $2 a liter so i felt really happy to live here thats for sure..
i'll be back there in a few weeks to see how the price is for one observation and beer drinking for another n im sure it'll be heaps more
as one country im going to has an annual inflation rate of 18%..
scary for sure but thats what you get for being an ex-soviet state... bloody russians

I wonder if this Coca Cola Exec has the same thoughts on his company selling a 375ml can of Coke at the corner store for $6.66/litre :yes $2.50 seems the norm for a 375ml can at these stores and service stations these
days). I guess coloured water is more expensive to make than any of our fuels.
However, I did find a way to get back at all the petrol companies. I retired. I save over $100/week, no need for the third car and as a bonus, I get to spend more time in the shed.

Do I remember those 1965 days Lee! Put 10 bob ($1.00 for the youngsters!) of juice in a 1200 1961 Bug at Singleton which equated to 2.5 gallons at
the time (about 11.4 litres) and made the 109 miles to Windsor without going to reserve....JUST!

hmmmm not support BP than I cant drive my beetle cause only BP ultimate and a massive slug of off-road octane /race fuel booster will make it run
without hissing at the carbies. (yes tried tuning....high compression causes the problem) maybe we could hit caltex up as this would impact woolies at
their shop a dockets...well seriously they can handle some competition...bastards own me too much money from years ago......lat us rally and rebel
against some one big not the BP country servo about to close as this will make thinks worse. A friend of mine recently moved to Northern WA said fuel
is approx 10cents a litre dearer than North QLD. Fark more than $1.70 a litre.....is it wrong for me to get a bank loan to drive my
beetle................

Is this a US email re written for Australia? $1.90 for regular? Not in any coastal city, not yet. Maybe its $1.90/gallon in US. And I recently heard
on radio that they were blaming Coles/Shell for being the initiator of the weekly cycle. Coles start it and the rest follow.
Anyhow, as of this week I have fixed up all the oil companies. I have always been a tight arse tuesday petrol buyer, but now I've stopped driving to
work. I ride the rails now and I save $12/week. I'm an eco-chris riding on electric trains. Yep, I know about the coal burning but the train was
already rolling along with an empty seat so yes I AM carbon neutral. I also get conditioning for city 2 surf by running up the 1km hill to get home. I
finally got to read my Zeitschrift from 2 months ago, no arseholes have cut me off in traffic, I havent had to scream abuse at the endless red lights.
It takes the same amount of time in the afternoon, only 5 minutes longer in the morning yet feels heaps quicker.
It only comes unstuck when today I missed the train (it pulled out just as I got there) and so I had to drive to work... my first weeks savings have
evaporated. Never mind, 2 out of 3 aint bad and I may have more luck tomorrow

I don't understand how not buying fuel from BP will make an overall difference. Ok say everyone stops buying from BP and they lower their prices? Why
would the competitors lower their prices if they are getting all the customers? But I guess it's still worth a try.
Besides, I never use BP fuel anyway. I always notice a big difference in economy and performance for the worse. Caltex has been the most consistent
for me.

The theory was that BP would lower prices to get customers back then the others would match it to keep them, thus driving prices down.
The theory would only have a limited effect as the wholesale price of fuel won't change & is dependant on world prices.
So, the only drop could come from the profit margin, which isn't all that big. Most of the price is made up from various state & federal taxes.

Without being pessimistic wait and see what electricity prices do in the coming year.
They all semi privitised 5 years ago where you got Integral power etc etc.
All those deals that were done come unstuct in 2009
As India comes on board along with China and they will all want cars to drive
What do you think will happen to prices then??
Petrol, power and water will all increase dramatically in the next couple of years

One of the main problem we have in Australia is our Govts alignment with World Parity Prices. The other is that all our fuel oil is sent o/s for
purification and then brought back in. About 5 - 6 years ago 1million barrels of oil per day was dragged up from North West Shelf & Bass Strait at
a cost of $6 per barrel, onsold to the Govt for $1 more,shipped o/s to a refinery and brought back here under the guise of the World Parity price
structure. We are one of the 3 richest resources nations in the world with our bauxite, diamonds, coal, gasses, gold and other commodities. We should
be refining our fuel here. The petrol companies can more than afford the costs. We should be selling our fuel/gasses to other nations. About the same
time (5 - 6 ) years ago Fletcher Challenge NZ in conjunction with Mobil NZ undertook a project based on a 1974 study at a Sth Aust Uni whereby a fuel
was derived from gas at a cost of 12c per litre. Another major also did the same and was able to bring the cost down to 6c per litre. Never seen the
light of day for the ordinary motorist. Rather the govt depts make use of it. And what about Venenuezla ? Have you seen their pump prices ? It`ll make
you cry.

I thank God that we run our LandCruiser on LPG and have just had the Kombi converted as well. We still run the Kombi on petrol for short trips (she
takes 5mins on petrol to warm up sufficiently before I can change her over to gas), but even the gas price has gone up by 20c in the past 2 years.
And they don't have to refine LPG!!!
I can't see it getting any better in the short time, and wonder if the retired Coke executive has come up with a way in which we can run our cars on
Coke, although $6.66 a litre is damn expensive!

I was looking at a fuel log book i used to keep for the kombi. in 1996 i went for a trip to the blue mountains from the gold coast. the cost of fuel
for the trip varied from 65/litre to 80/litre...12 years ago! why bitch about the price of fuel now? it's doubled but so has your income

however with more $ coming in a better lifestyle ensues thus we are geared a lot differently today vs '96..
i think house prices tho have more than doubled since '96..

Scary thing is that I am paying as much to fill up my motorbike as what it used to cost me to fill up my dub when I was a teenager.
1 & sixpence just doesn't go as far as it used to anymore.......

Truth??? It's all lies conjured up with mirrors. I am just a tigharse that enjoys the convenience of the bike as it can do in traffic what my VW
can't. I make my dub feel special by using it on special occasions like Tuesdays when fuel is cheap!!!
BTW I am too carnivorous and evil to ever stoop to your kombi driving ways!! Esp now that you have crossed to the dark side and gone all out on
wartercooling. Sorry Pete.

Who out there has bought rice lately??
I cook a lot - mainly curries.
Rice has gon from $12.50 per 10kg bag to the cheapest i can get it at $27.50
That is a 220% increase in a matter of weeks.
There have been several reasons why this has been done but one of the reasons i have been reading about is because of pressure that is being exerted
on people to grow ethanol based crops to keep the west happy

My wife's family is from Auburn. I always found it extremely interesting. It was kind of like an apartheid set up. Middle Easterns at one end, Asians
at the other. Other than that, it is the double parking capital of the world. If you like using your horn, Auburn is THE place to go.
