Need Shocks looked at, where should i go?

Hi there,
I wanted to get someone to look at the shocks on my square, where should i take it? Would a place like pedders or something be ok or would i have to take it to a vw specific place?
Thanks
Pete

Pedders have a machine that can check Your shock absorbers while they are on the car...

they have $10 ?? suspension check

but normally, You take a shock off and see if its OK...

if its the oil type - it should be hard to pull up and push down...
Gas type will extend as soon as you take it off the car..

If it shows it has a leak... renew it...

or take Your car to a VW mechanic or shop

only two bolts hold them on...

cheers

Just try and get something like the originals. Don't get gas a/c car is too light and gas would be too hard. I think that maybe std shocks from beetles may fit. Check Vintage's web site.
