Type 3 Drums on a 62 Beetle

Folks,

Can I just replace my 62 Beetles rear drums with a set from a Type 3. If so what year would be best and is it really just a straight swap as I think I am reading in various articles ??

no. the type 3 drum is designed for the long axle. either fit the long axles & tubes or machine 10-12mm off the drum centre boss.

Hi

You will also need the type 3 backing plates and shoes as well.
