Ghia bumpers
I'm after some info on whether the earlier style ghia bumpers can be fitted to the later year models - specifically, the 1974 ghia.
Also, are there any benefits to purchasing a 1974 over an earlier model? I think the lights on the earlier ones look cooler but wonder if the '74
car I'm considering buying has any mechanical advantages.
Any guidance on these issues would be greatly appreciated.

you can make the early bars fit onto the later ones, the bar bracket holes may be slightly larger and the recessed rear bar sections on the quarts may
look a bit odd, the only advantages of a later ghia is the larger motor and better brakes, gear ratios etc, i prefer the early ghias but each to their
own, i had a 72 for many years as my daily driver and it was one of the best ive owned

yes probally LESS rust
and bigger engine and better gearbox also you could change to discs easier

Also mostly improved safety features with IRS rear suspension, collapsible steering column, disc brakes standard, fuel filler neck at side of fender.
The larger rear tail lights, indicators and bumpers are the main external differences. I'd assume it's also an imported LHD if a 1974.

The Doors actually tend to stay closed especially whilst driving on the later ghias. Pre 63 Ghia door striker plates are not the best!
Also you can graft early Tailight body panels to the later ghia body essentially the body lines remained the same from 60 to 74. Same goes for front
indicator and front and rear bumper mounts, easier than fixing rust too! Your car, your money, do what you like with it!
I would buy a solid 74 and make it look like an earlier Ghia over taking a rusty early wreck and trying to bring it back to life again.

No, it's an original RHD imported from Japan.
