Going naked (fenderless) in NSW?
Any one know off hand if i can remove the fenders off my 64 bug and replace them with skimpy cycle style fenders without having to get an engineers
certificat? I rememver reading somwhere the cycle guards have to cover from the point virticlly up from the front of the wheel, all the way around 90
deg's to the back of the wheels, correct?

as good an idea as it sounds the RTA can be a real pain to deal with. if the one guy on the other end of the line hasnt had a case like yours before
he'll prob just say no, or ass you around till you give up (in QLD at least). im not saying dont try, just dont be disheartened by the RTA if they
say no, cause chances are they just dont know themselves. I'd suggest going to a Major Hot rod builder, they would deal with this sort of thing all
the time

Nice guesstimation there Boozo, i just got off the phone with them they said aftermarket body kits were fine, as far as removing the guards and
replacing them with "short motorcycle guards" his response was "no.... motorcycle guards are for motorcycles.... you dont have a motorcycle... you
have a car" what a deadshit.

there are cars out there with this type of thing done. Check with an engineer or as advised a major hot rod designer. If the car does not comply to
standard then it can be issued a defect notice unless you have the engineers certificate with you. Some people out there just don't know when they
should. Just the way it is.

Get a certified rod builder that the RTA recognise to give you advice or carry out the mods.
They can be picky with engineers etc
Or just fit the cycle guards n drive it!
