Gunnedah Drags 28th & 29th March Pics & Vids

Hi Guys

Just got an email that the Gunnedah Drags are on
Claiming the Date.

First Drags for 2009 at Gunnedah will be in conjunction with the Week of Speed on 28 & 29 March.

Put it in your calendars and see you trackside. A weekend out for everyone you don't have to have a super fast car to drag race just bring a car and have some fun. I had heaps of fun last year beating the v8 guys.
There all a great bunch of guys up there very relaxed atmosphere. And $90 is heaps cheap for 2 days of drag racing fun.

A very hot but enjoyable test and tune day was had by the VW guys at Gunnedah today.

Ian Mezz brought his WRX powered very stock two tone super, complete with cheese cutters. A few sniggers were herd in the crowd, but after his launch and time was announced over the PA I,m sure i herd a few chins hit the ground, soooo funny.

Local lad Adam Kirkton was having a blast and is looking to post some consistent times tomorrow.

Fabes (Fabian Corio) made the trip up with his immaculate Inch Pincher and received many good comments about the presentation of the car.
He only managed two runs but i think his best time was 7.62 (Don,t quote me on that)

My little black Bettle ran 8.97, 8.84, 8.82 so i was happy with my times. Hosed a young lad in his late model SS commodore ute. He coundn,t get his brain around the fact that his 200 and something kw ute could be beaten by a humble Beetle.

Were all looking forward to tomorrows racing and flying the flag for VW,s in motorsport.

Hi

It looks like they all had fun, I bet Ian and the brown bug upset a few people on the track and also on the drive up.

What is it with bugs owners from newie? Are they all colour blind and and cant find mudguards that match the rest of the car?

They were trailer queens. Just in case something let go on the drag track lol. As Ian only has and old L bug box in his and Josh still has the 1300 original swing axle box in his.
But all good no breakages. They beat heaps of the V8's up there.

Next one in Jun or July I will be there in my 58 giving it to the V8 guys to test n tune for Warwick.

Fabion made the finals then broke out.

Hi

Well done anyway to the trailer queens, there would be nothing worse than being stuck in Gunnedah with a broken bug.

When do the results come out?

Sorry can,t remember results for all the bugs.

My car ran a best of weekend 8.79 at 129k,s which i was happy with, the strip has no prep as it is an airstrip.
My 60ft times were slow compared with Warwick, i ran 2.05 as opposed to 1.95-2.0 at Warwick.
But car ran strong and liked the low humidity and cool temps we had in the morning.

Downer of weekend was being told my near new as1698 stamped helmet no longer meets the new ANDRA specs. Must be now as/nzs1698.
Anybody now if this applys to CAMS events also?.
