You can try a mild caustic based cleaner like spray n wipe.
If you really want to make it look newer, get some cans of vinyl spray and give it the once over. If you match the colour it wont have that ugly rub
through like when you change colour.
I have seen it done successfully a few times. It all depends on the condition of your trims now and the amount of care and preparation you put into
spraying it.

You can buy a vinyl rejuvenating paste kind of thing from hardware stores. It comes in a little 1 litre tin, with incredibly 50s graphics on the
label. Can't remember the name of the stuff right now (it's at home, I'm not), but I've used it on lots of old 1950s vinyl
furniture and the seats on my old Morris Major, and it works a treat. It's a kind of cleaning and polishing compound - gets rid of all the old
crud and really brings the colours back to life. Improves the flexibility of the vinyl also. I'll try to find the tin later tonight, so I can
tell you what it's called.

I have bought the vinyl paint from places like Repco, Autobarn.
I have had it made up by a friend of a friend who specialises in recolouring vinyl and leather. He was able to do colour matching also. Most Trim
shops can do this.

I used "Pledge Vinyl Magic" -Superior Vinyl Floor Cleaner from Coles, has a spray pump. Cleaned up the seats beautifully, then rinsed off
well with water (do first thing on a hot sunny day). Finished off with Armourall.
Kitten used to make a great upholstery cleaner in the days when upholstery was the only option, not so good when products now claim to clean velour
and vinyl seats.
Like brushing teeth with Draino.
bluebus, are you going to let everyone else know the name of "vinyl rejuvenating paste kind of thing from hardware stores. It comes in a little

Sorry, forgot all about this! I seem to have the attention span of a lab rat on speed.
The stuff is now sitting in front of me and is called "Arco" (the modern waterless plastic upholstery cleaner)
Made by Silicone Consolidated Industries, 156 Ryans Rd, Nundah, Qld, 4012, who may or may not still exist. It cost me $6.40 a couple of years back,
and there's 450gms in a tin.
Apparently it "cleans like MAGIC and protects the surface of plastic upholstery, venetian blinds, polished furniture, refrigerators, all tiles,
stoves, ovens, baths, showers, painted woodwork, auto bodies and stainless steel", and contains no bleaching agents, ammonia, acids, alkalies or
abrasives.

Are you referring to my sig line, or my generally incoherent ramblings?
The sig is a quote from "League of Gentlemen", a particularly sick comedy that was on the ABC a while back. It's a rather black
humoured thing, and the line comes from a particularly inbred local shopkeeper, who tries to ward off non-locals (before he and his equally inbred
wife and monstrously inbred son do rather gruesome inbred things to them)

Sadly, lab rats on speed are reknowned for running around in circles and achieving absolutely nothing!
I think the fact that it took me weeks to find the vinyl cleaner speaks volumes about the state of my kombi's interior!
Although I do have a big achievement this weekend, after 3 months of driving around without a quarter vent, I finally reinstalled it. And I fixed up
lots of little rustholes around my pop-top. So my car may be filthy, but it's finally waterproof!
