Shifter upgrade

Our 71 superbug has a very sloppy shifter. Any suggestions on upgrading and fixing this problem?

replace the shifter bushing and rear coupling

Put in a short shift kit and WHAA HOO!!

whole other story!

Cost about $50 all up and a couple hours work

Gets rid of that "stirring the bowl" feel

Hi

While you have your shift rod out why not cut a slot with an angle grinder in the front of the cup where the base of the shifter goes so that you can fit a bent type 3 gearstick, with what blue suggested you will have a really feeling shifter for not a lot of money.
