Not policing fun but stopping kids with no idea building death traps
you can lower it all you want but it must be done with engineers approval
this will also insure your car insurance wont be voided by unknown or badly engineered work
It might save a life
good idea I say

cant even do that,
maxium drop is 5cm and thats only if the car still has 100mm clearance

having had a couple of stupidly low cars in my time I can see their point
alot of these cars are so low they have no suspension travel left,
hit one decent bump and it can head off in any direction like into the path of an on coming car

some cars clearance is min 200mm eg those Subaru wagons those young people lower other cars it is 100mm from the lowest part of car eg sump, exhaust , cross members. and you can not remove suspension bump stops .

The way I understand it is that it will only apply to mods done after August the first so BOOMERDOG dosn't need to wory about his present ride, after that date then an engineers cert. is required for anything lower than manufacturers spec and no allowance for anything more than 50mm, thing I can't come to grips with is the statement "Mr Daley says while drivers may think a lowered car looks "cool" it really is dangerous and any adjustment of more than five centimetres doesn't belong on the road." how can it be dangerous (without qualifying this part of his statement" when cars built for the track are considerably lower than standard just to make them handle better ie. safer cars.
While I personaly agree that some of those cars out there on the road are just stupidly lowered, once a cert is isued to say the work is done correctly with no advers effects on the vehicles safety then that should be that. There, my 2 cents worth with out one *^@+**^

sorry everyone for my outburst ,but it is just a blatent revenue making ploy,i don't sit on the fence me...
i've jumped through enough hoops just to get my ride into the country ,the amount of shit i have had to alter/remove/add ..THIS was the last straw for me...
i really do hope it is adjustments to suspension AFTER august?..anyone else confirm this?

Hi

This just proves that we some sort of modified car association, like the hot rodders have to talk to governments about these things, there is the street machine federation, but they seem to be pretty lame.

We now have another premier of this state who has never held a drivers licence, so this is what we get.

Yes. Keep in mind this is not really a *new* rule - you have required Engineers' for this sort of stuff for years and years.

I am not saying I agree with it ...nor disagree, yet ... and I agree, it has not been thunk about much... Does it mirror the Code of Practice? Is it based on empirical research? Stats? Does a 'blanket' number of 100mm take into consideration suspension design and type? etc

Yeah, there's another point, why the arbatory 50mm, some cars that would hardly be noticed, others would have them sitting in the weeds, think your right, hasn't been thought through very well, seems like someone opened their mouth before they put their brain into gear.
