New forum user and Country Buggy owner.
Hi there.
I'm new here. I'm a regular on lots of forums but have only just found this one. Why?... Because i'm from the U.K.
I found your forum because i've recently bought a Country Buggy and wanted to chat to other owners, talk tech about it and source parts for it.
As rare as they are in Oz, as you can imagine, they are way rarer in Europe. All that are known about are 2 (maybe 3) in England, and 1 in Germany.
The Country Buggy was one VW i'd had on my dream dub list after reading about it in the book 'Volkswagens of the World'.
However, i also own six other VWs.
I have a 1967 Beetle that left the factory as a standard tin top but has been converted into a Hebmuller replica.
I have a 1972 Bay that has been chopped in half, a section removed and welded back up. I call it stumpy. It has a 1.8 turboed engine in the back and
does the quarter mile in 14 secs. It also pulls wheelies, even when you don't want it to!
I've got a 1975 1303s. Not my favourite VW model by a long shot but a mate was going to scrap it and i didn't want to see it die and so he gave it
to me for free.
I've got a 1978 bay, i use it for camping at the VW shows i go to and so that one gets a lot of use. It has done loads of miles since i bought it and
has been great. Last month, i took it to Germany and toured Europe in it for 3 weeks. We went to Wolfsburg, Hannover and various dub shows in Germany,
Holland and Belgium including Hessisch Oldendorf.
My wifes daily is a 1999 Golf mk4.
Last up is my 2001 New Beetle. This is also heavily customised and has won loads of trophies in the U.K and also one in Belgium.
I've had loads of dubs in the past but i won't go into all of them now.
Also i'm covered in VW tattoos. I've been in loads of newspapers in the U.K and on TV in both England and Germany. VW have even paid me to do
promotional work for them and they even paid for our honeymoon!
I can add pics if anyone is interested but if you do a Google search for 'Chris Redford VW', you'll see there has been loads of news stories about
me. (and they haven't even found the bodies yet)
Anyway, enough of me talking about myself. I look forward to getting to know some of you, all be it online. Who knows, maybe one day i'll get my ass
out over there to visit some of your dub shows. I've never been to Oz but would love to. My wife lived there for 6 months and so i'm sure she could
help me find my way about a bit.
Love the forum so far. I've not strayed out of the country buggy section yet but will have to check out the other forums on here.
Take it easy guys n gals and keep on dubbin!
