O

C'mon Col. You can do better than that considering you're now an expert in the art of black, round rubber things.

Here are the tyres and sizes I've run over the years.

195/60R15 Yokohama A008RS on 6 inch steel rims.
195/50R16 Yokohama A048 LTS Lotus tyres on 6 and 7 inch Fuchs. The 7 inch rears held me back for a long time.
195/55R15 Yokohama ADVAN A032R the beetle loves these on 6 inch Cookie Cutters.
195/50R15 Yokohama ADVAN A050 A step up from the A032 but unfortunately not available in 55 or 60 series.

For supersprints I try and use the narrowest, softest tyre possible so the light weight, under-powered little VW will get them to the 60 degree operating temp which makes them grip.

I hope I haven't given anyone brain damage.

CT,

Was the 7 inch rim, not prgressive enough at the limit? Ie because it held the tire wider the tire wouldn't roll it would just reach its grip limit and slide?

Also have you tried wider rears (say 205)? if not why?

I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

Thanks CT I have been considering 195/60 15 Bridgestone adrenelins on 6 in steel rims for street use and the odd track day
