The Doc's Dub (56k will hate this!)
So, given the fact that i bought the Dub off a Fellow forum member, and i have since buying it encountered a few members in the real world, i figured
i would post a build thread... Being a Photographer, the first post in the thread will be very Pic Heavy...
I have a build thread on another forum, so i will post the relevant bits on here... For a more in depth look at what ive done up to here, visit this
link... http://forums.eurocca.net/showthread.php?t=34760
That gives a bit of background around the build too... But enough of that, a few pics of where it started, and where its at now...
My first Square
On the Trailer for the ride home
Where it sat for the rebuild
Big bonus in the back, with my sisters brake specialist doing his inspection
Interior before pickup
After the interior was emptied (No shots of it chockas on the drive back)
Gauge Collection
Scored these off Ebay, fuggin heavy, but worth it...
On the road... Kind of, first drive...
Stripping the bonnet back
Officially on the road...
New pedal Rubbers...
Sticker on the rear window...
Stickers for the dash...
Bit of brass love...
Bit bored one night...
New seatbelts went in... Interior almost finished...
As it sits now...
And a pic of what it came from in Matt's Backyard....
Now, onto where its going... Lowering is my next step, the exhaust will be changed for this, it scrapes on EVERYTHING as it is... will get a setup
similar to another forum members, and the bonnet will be getting finished, finding bog in the nose im not sure what im going to do, i was originally
going to take it back to bare metal and let it surface rust for that Rat Rod look, but finding bog its not quite going to work that way! I have found
some paint that gives that rust look very easily, so i think ill end up going that route...
I have a pair of spotlights for the front of it too, just need to get an auto elec to go over the electrics and wire them in... Im also looking into
converting the spotlights into HID for a bit of extra light!
The rims will be powdercoated red asap as well
Once a few little "Natural Ventilation Holes" are fixed, i will put a stereo in it too...

Cheers mate, the steering wheel does seem to have a bend to it, toward the rear of the car, but driving it you wouldnt know, and looking at it in the
car, i dont really notice it, the fisheye accentuates it alot though
The FE is a 10mm f/2.8 Sigma lens, absolutely brilliant lens

Thanks mate
Im really looking forward to volksfest, and i have some plans for it, to see what sort of response the car gets! Ive been to plenty of car shows, and
shot a lot of showcars for mates, but i think this thing just oozes cool and should get a great response on the day
Heres a few random shots i fired off today...
Theres a great shot of the exhaust dragging on the ground when i went in a driveway when the camera was set up for the last shot...
And the setup for the last pic...

You know Matt, your bloody right! Just looked at the photo of the engine sitting in the back of the square, and compared the exhausts (Cos its 1.40am
and if i go outside to actually look, the olds and my sister will crack the shits at the noise im likely to make....) and the one on the other motor
is perfect! Until i get the custom one done anyway

So yesterday i decided to swap the exhaust over for the one on my spare motor as it sits closer into the car, and doesnt drop as far....
So it started like this...
With both exhausts off ready to go back on
Those with a keen eye will notice something i didnt when i took them off... Different Flanges...
So, No Exhaust... On a side note... it sounds like a bloody Harley, but louder like this..
So a trip down to my exhaust guys (driving very gingerly i might add, except for one nice rev to scare some kids at a bus stop... i couldnt help
myself ) I ended up with this...
Guys were nice enough to paint it black for me too which i was stoked with... really tidies up the rear end...
Theres a bunch more things to do to get it ready for Volksfest in late November... Some of those things wont be unveiled until the show itself...
others will surface before hand hopefully
I have also settled on some plates for it, ill hit the folks up for them for my birthday... see how i go!

The result of todays session, it involved, Fire, Swearing, Rattle Guns, Bricks, Swearing, Angle grinders, swearing, and more swearing... But the
results speak for themselves!
Ignor the image quality, im camera less at the moment, and owning DSLR's and good lenses means i really couldnt give two shits what the camera on my
phone is like....

Cheers guys, im stoked with it!
Scarab, front is 3 splines, rear is, we guess 3 splines, we just put the spring plates horizontal and bolted it all back up
Izac, the fire came from a seized bolt in the drivers side spring plate, we had to get the grinder out to get it out, and because my dub leaks some
oil, we had a sheet down to stop it getting all over my mates driveway, and well, sparks and cloth dont mix! Overall, we found the rear a bit easier
than the front, and if we hadnt been screwing around looking for tools, it would have taken probably 3 hours less than it did!
Lee, thanks bud, and not a chance of getting it off me for Volksfest! Are entry forms and costing out yet? (Might throw Matt the keys for a drive of a
real cool Dub though )
Its still a work in progress though, few things here and there left to finish it off. I managed to lose a hubcap on the expressway on my way to work
after lowering it, shit happens, ill source another set... theres plans in store!
