topline MaXX struts
I'm thinking of getting these for my 75 Superbug to fit biiger rims. Does anyone have these? And if so, how do you find them? Or do you have any
other suggestions?

dunno... I'm not that rich...
These are my lowered struts.... - but they only allow for a 6 inch width.
Other options you have are Vforce - http://www.beetleracing.com.au
Richard is really helpful

Jason, my rims are 7 inch wide. The V-force struts are $1000.00 a pair. It seems cheaper to import the MaXX struts.

Have you had a look on superbeetlesonly.com? Check out if you can find any feedback on them there as well
Good luck with it.

I have the V Force ones and very happy
I would say there is more adjustment in the V Force ones
That said - Superman on SBO has a new version
See here
http://www.germanlook.com/store/suspension.html
At $735US + shipping i reckon you are better off with V Force
Anyway - have a look

Joel I don't want ot drop the front end by much. I only want to improve the stance and get rid of the nose that points upwards. Spoke to you at
Warwick about the struts you were using and you mentioned that you sometimes hear a knock from the front.

topline extreme are the lastest ones out
instead of a snap ring that sits in grooves to set the height they use a threaded colar like teins
Jon sells the parts as an update for maxx struts
thinking of doing it to mine while the aussie dollar is so healthy

Joel didn't have his beetle at warwick. Steve Carter and his son Dave had the white super that raced on the weekend.

I have the maxx struts as well, Drive nice not and their not too stiff for a daily driver. I went with them because im not racing the car, and I could
get them landed with new lowered swaybar, bushhes, camber adjusters, flip kit etc etc for around $1200 when the dollar was poor. My only real
complaint is the fact that the highest setting is still a bit low for my taste. You'll have to run wheel tyre combo around 590mm to avoid rubbing, I
havent gotten around to fitting smaller front tyres and it rubs pretty hard if I have a passenger in it around intersections.
Jon from topline is easy to deal with as well.

yea i should probably add im also running a topline 7/8" lowered swaybar, camber plus kit, flip-it kit etc
these are a necessity with a lowered super
with the stock swaybar the control arm bushings flog out real quick, not to mention the excess camber wearing out tyres and the tierods can bend on
the body
Funbug, that would have been david.
mine and his bugs have been twins for a while
more so when i have my hyperfang rims and kamei on

I have them. The quality is excellent and they are hugely adjustable.
I have the body back on at the moment to set everything up and I can fit 7" rims with 225/45 tyres and they are flush under the standard guards.
Also running the flip kit, lowered sway bar etc. It all comes very well labelled and the instructions are excellent. Also have the topline rear disc
kit - with slotted and drilled rotors. I bought this some time ago and the lot was a bit over 2 Gorillas landed... but it fits and Jon Chabot is very
helpful.
For my money, its the way to go if you are not racing.

This might help you decide what wheel and tyre combo you want. Then talk it through with Jon. He will sort out spacers and longer wheel studs as
well.

Here is one of thewheels under the guards with the Maxx Struts.
Have to see how it sits with the motor back in, but it will probably have to go lower, which is easily done. These are on the highest setting which is
2.5" lower than standard.
As I said, these are 225/45's on a 7" x 17 rim.

Landed for less than $700. Just fitted them today - went on quite easily and the instructions are clear. Only problem was I had that the strut bar I
bought locally had 2 left sided brackets. Just need to get my backing plates powder coated and the calipers painted.

As a matter of interest I weighed the assembled stock and Topline struts. The stock strut weighed 7.6 kg and the Topline came in at 5.2 kg

Hi
That was me you spoke to, its not so much a knock as sound comes from the springs working on the alloy seats, its only really noticeable rolling at
low speeds with the motor & radio off.

[img][/img]. The struts are in but the centre caps are too big for the
rims! Will need to machine the centre of the rim to get them to fit . Bugger. It never stops.
