Anyone use tubes in their tyres? or is it outdated?
Does anyone use tubes in their tyres for offroading?
or is that just oldskool now?

Yes, I do - lost a race a year ago, coz I popped a bead off - instantly lost pressure and had to stop to change the wheel over - if I'd had a tube in
it, or the more expensive bead lock alternative - the problem MAY not have occured.

Don't even think about it Chris , as at low presure on sand etc your going to have nothing but drama's with either losing the valve if teh tyre
spins a bit on the rim and or sand getting caught inbetween the tyre , rim and tube causing friction and an unkown quick deflation which if a front
tyre can cause some not so freindly lane changing .
Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel

Hi Chris,
I wouldn't recommend using tubes in anything...
as if a nail etc hits the tube ... it blows...
instant deflating of tyre...
if You get a nail in a tubeless tyre...
the tyre will slowly go down...
taking sometimes days etc before its noticeable...
and normally will NOT go FLAT... like the tubed tyre...
it really, depends on what You mean by Offroad...
If You are going places that may involve the tyres getting knocked on the sidewalls etc... and the tyre getting pushed off the rim bead... then tubes
would be good...??

I presume they would run tubes ?? [no not offroad] lol
same as motor bikes with spoked wheels need tubes....
plus those locking gadgets to stop the tube/tyre from spinning and breaking the valve off....

Dirt bikes run bead locks from the factory, and tubes. Enduro races run Mousse's instead of tubes / air.
I wouldn't recommend either in a street car.

Some people run tubes in rally cars, notably the Datsun 1600s in PRC2 in SA, I talked to the drivers and he seemed to believe that the tubes were a
lot less hassle than tubeless tyres. I'm not aware of any off-road VWs running tubes though.

Dunno guys, I run tubes in my fronts for the same reason kimbo gave. there are pros and cons with both and the only real problem I have found is
balancing and unsprunge wieght.
Have had the tyre come of the rim on 2 occasions and it is still easier carrying a spare tube than trying to set the bead on a broken rim.
Besides a spare inner doubles as a floation toy floating around the lakes and creeks on fraser Is.

Some tyres are Marked = TUBE TYPE =
but most car tyres are tubeless...
but tubes can be used....
all OLD Veteran cars would be using tubes... [not offroad] lol
but once You have a problem with a tubeless tyre...
offroad, You would probably go to tubes....
I personally don't like them... tubeless was a step up.. lol

Before buying the Baja I had several 4WDs and always ran tubeless. Only time I had issue was with current model Pathfinder (by the way would never
recomend them). Got 2 flats on the track and 1 alloy rim damaged (easily fixed with wooden mallet). Tyres were beyond repair and tubes would not have
helped.
I always carry a tyre repair kit including plugs and patches and a small compressor. Also found this helpfull with my motorbike adventure tourer.
