oil cooler
Have had one mounted in front of the fan intake, seemed to work well, yeah I know it's heating the air going into the motor but in a buggy
getting plenty of air flow it doesn't cause any probs-another bonus is that you can't see it there.
just some ideas for ya!!

Although I have a funny feeling this post is just fishing for a response, I am going to answer in case you are serious.
Running an oil cooler or any form of restriction in front of the fan shroud is a very bad idea. Not only will it reduce the amount of air being
inducted into the low pressure high quantity fan it will begin the process of superheating the air it is using. The hotter the engine gets the hotter
the oil gets, the hotter the oil gets the hotter the air gets, the hotter the engine gets and so on.
You have said you ran it and it ran fine, did you have temp senders and cylinder head temp senders and guages ? If not I would suggest that the engine
running is not a good measure of if it was fine of not.
I have played with this theory before and by placing certain percentages of cover in front of the shroud I can vary the cyliner head temp quite
easliy.
In short it is a VERY VERY BAD IDEA !!!

The setup I had wasn't on there long enough to test properly it was setup by an unnamed "VW specialist" in darwin
it had about a 3" gap between the shroud and cooler, only had a dipstick temp sender but overall temp seemed good.
but like I said testing was short as it did a big end before doing 150 k's yay!
still trying to get some money out of the #*!k that was over 2 years ago.......

So the guy who decided it was a good idea to put teh cooler in front of the fan, also built a VW engine and got 150km out of a bottom end... must
really know his stuff
Out of interest how the hell did you get 3" between the rear of the buggy and the fan shroud, let alone 3" plus cooler ?

cooler sat pretty close to the glass (bit too close I reckon) Yeah heard good things about this guy until I dropped the manx off and heard lots of bad
things after the money was handed over, ended up getting towed by a hyundi (yeah scarey!) 100k took the motor out, dumped it on his floor and demanded
most of my money back, still waiting..
Haven't trusted another machanic or "specialist" since

Fitting the adjusters
It looked & sounded easy in the Manx Club mag. One small problem they just did not look like they were sitting in the beam right. A quick call to
Wes for a chat and things were back on track.

Welding Time
As the directions in the mag said, as long as ya line your scribe marks up & keep it square ya can`t go to far wrong.
(Welding the adjusters in was easy, I didn`t have to do it. Thanks to my Dad! as being right handed and having to weld with the left because of a
breakage isn`t easy)
