72 kombi questions


hi guys i have a 72 bus i picked up for nothing needing some work done to the rear floor, now it has the later style rear end with a lowlight front end, what engine should i put in it? An upright or a pancake one?

If you have the larger engine bay, you can fit either.

probably easiest to match to what gearbox it has,ie 3 rib - 1600, 5 rib - 1800 ,6 rib - 2litre

DOES THE VAN HAVE ANY GEARBOX and a 72 is a very special year,it can fit without any alterations at all any of 3 motors fit 1600,1200.2 lit but not all gearboxes will mate to all engines,a 1600 motor will fit a 1800 but not a 2 lit as a matter of fact a 2 lit must use a 2 lit box .the best combernation is a 2 lit with 1800 heads and 2 lit gearbox,hope that helps a bit

ok, well iv got a 3 rib box from a 73 bus and an 1800 engine at home so will bolt them in and go from there
