Type 3 Air shock front
Hey guys at the moment me and my dad are looking at putting my fast on air ride all round.
We think we have the back figured out, ive got some 7" bags lying around that would work for that.
However the front, i want to go the easy option and run air shocks instead of bags so there isnt any major modification to the front as there is a
lack of room up there.
Does anyone have any info on air shocks? I know alot of people run them?
Where can i buy them? and How much? I'm guessing i will need to extend the shock attachment points? I want to drive at my current height and drop it
so the frame is pretty much on the ground.

Nope we looked at it today. Were going to use the bags on the back and i want to do air shocks on the front, should be done pretty cheap overall.

Did you buy them for lowering purposes? What did you fit them to?
Heres my plan:
Have the car lowered 4 outer splines (i have much smaller rolling diameter than standard as i run 14's with reasonably low profile tyres, 4 splines
would be close to beam on ground). Then i would use the air shocks to raise the car up a few inches to actually drive.
To get this low i would remove the existing bumpstop mount and fabricate a new one.
I dont even think i would need to extend the mounts as there are some very small air shocks available too.
Now the issues that i see possible are: (there may be alot more)
Can the air shock lift over the pressure of the torsen bars?
and
The car will basically be 'riding' on the air shock, would this kill the shock in no time? Its not a daily driver so they wouldn't get too much
use.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated! Keep in mind I'm still very new to VW's!

i looked into this a while ago troy,
try to get some air shocks for something big like a chev or something as it should then lift the car up and down.
only other real option is bilstein coilovers out a silvia or something the circlip ones not thread type other than that call someone like sa
suspension at pooraka and see what they think.
