well today guys i signed the papers for my first ever new car, a nice little polo gti with the 1.8t motor so i will be a bit more active in this section of the forum

Well done! They are very nice machines. The 'Mk4F' Polo GTI actually made its world debut in Australia, at the 2005 Sydney Motor Show. Not many modern VW models can claim that! There were some earlier Polo GTIs, including the G40 supercharged versions in the 1980s, but they weren't sold here.

110 kW from the 1.8 is the same as the Mk4 Golf GTI from only a few years ago, so you should be very happy!

Happiness is owning BOTH air-cooled, and water-cooled, Volkswagens.

I have had a couple as loan cars when mine was getting serviced. They are heaps of fun. It is not as fast as the golf GTI but it certainly feels like it is.
