[FS - NSW] 1969 Type 3 Squareback SOLD

Up for sale is my ’69 Type 3 Squareback.

As most of you will know the ’69 has the early model looks, but with the disc brakes on the front and IRS rear, so it can be a pretty nice daily driver.

1600TP engine on dual Weber IDF36 carbs (genuine Italian made) freshly rebuilt, with new CB Performance linkage kit and air filters.

New Pertronix electronic ignition and bosch coil fitted.

New brake callipers and pads are fitted on the front, a new indicator switch has also been recently installed.

Comes with new KYB shocks for the front and standard rear shocks, it’s been lowered a couple notches but still rides nice.

It will be sold fitted with the venetian blinds, roof rack, visor and Empi mud flaps as pictured.

The body isn’t a rust bucket, but there is a couple spots needing attention under the front screen as pictured and another patch is required under the passenger side rear window, a patch has been welded in where the window sits but it needs another couple patches made up and welds ground down to finish it off. The floor pan is in good condition.

Otherwise the body is pretty straight with the exception of some minor hail damage to the passenger side (it was apparently parked half under a shed during a storm). It comes with a replacement front guard and passenger door.

It was a daily driver for around a year but it is now unregistered and will require a blueslip (for NSW).

The car runs and drives but the carbs are not tuned properly, i think the idle jets are the wrong size so this will need some work to get it running properly. It comes with the original carbs and linkages.

The squareback is too nice to be a rat but it aint no show car, it has a nice patina, never fails to turn heads.

I really don't want to sell it but im finishing up another project and i really need to the funds :(

Looking for $2,500 firm at the moment, want it to go to an enthusiast even though i could probably get more for it on ebay...

The car is currently in Avalon NSW 2107 (Sydney Northern Beaches)

Ring or PM me with any questions.

Cheers,
Mike

Bump it up

I think this is Frenzix old car... bought this off another guy on these forums 18 months ago for $4,500 and this was without the roof rack, venetians, webers etc.

This ol' girl will go cheap! PM me an offer...

Can organise a permit to drive it / deliver it within a reasonable distance around Sydney if required, or can drop it off at a depot for interstate transport.

Not at this stage but if i cant sell the car for a reasonable amount with everything fitted ill consider selling bits... but i'd rather sell it as is at the moment.

Roof rack, venetians and weber set up is worth $2k alone.

Will sell the square complete for $2,500 for a quick sale

Yes it has seatbelts in the back (just lap belts though), i think the middle one is there too but i'll have to double check.

Blueslip shouldn't be hard it's in roadworthy condition, passed last time with no problems and the car has been improved upon since then.

I can recommend a blue slip station nearby that should pass it without any dramas - but you will need to get the carbs tuned properly beforehand (or fit the original carbs back on).

No deposit yet just a verbal, so until a deposit is in my hands or in my account it's still available.

Also, in case anyone else asks, i can't seem to find a way to get a permit to drive it within NSW... apparently permits are only meant for interstate vehicles travelling into NSW? So it would be best to have the car trailered any significant distance.

I think this is the car I saw a few times driving across the spit when I was doing the city run in my red beetle, always passed too quick to do the wave!

I have a savannah beige 66 mid-resto, lovely car, happy driving new owner.

Not exactly happy to see it gone, i lost a lot of money on it but hopefully the new owner will give her the TLC she deserves. It was cheap for an early square so he better be happy

I remember seeing a red early beetle a few times around the spit bridge area. And on my way back towards the city i would go across the roseville bridge and i would always see a nice early notch go buy with an exchange of waves.

I'll get another one one day... but they never seem to come on the market when you are looking for one...

I once flew down to Melb once to look at a certain black squareback for sale... i wasnt expecting the amount of rust for $13,000k asking price but lets not go there.

Ummm.... It needs a bit more than TLC.(unless that stands for floorpan and sill replacement)
Oh well it what happens when you buy some things sight unseen. :(
