Newby from Melbourne
Hi all,
I subscribed to this grouse list a couple of days ago after some obligatry lurking. I am about to buy a beetle real soon. I'm after a 71 or 72,
why? beacase I like the retro dash on the flat wind screen ones, the smaller tail lights, struts and front disks. In the past I have had a 66 and a a
ratty 71 for a short while.
I like the idea of having something I can tinker with - I am planning doing something with the carburation, electronic ignition, headers and maybe
better aftermarket heads. As I do a lot of freeway driving I want some get-and-go, without going too radical. Later I might increase the CCs.
Would anyone know of an online database that lists what year struts and disks came in? and what models got the dual port heads. Would a 72 beetle be
a better starting point than a 71?
Any advice appreciated.
