Yes they made sliding doors optional after 1964.
This particular van was made in Germany then imported to Indonesia where it spent years working at the airport transporting pilots. Then was imported
to Australia a couple of years ago, changed owners once andd then fell into my hands
Is the only KNOWN factory slider in Australia

Tastefully done
a few modern touches but still retaining that classic charm
Can I just make one observation, those late beetle wiper arms are probably a great safety upgrade (6volt wiper arms SUCK) but they look abit out of
place
or is it just me that it glares at?
maybe painted silver instead of black?

If you go into the Patents office and do a search, you will find the blue prints for the VW bus sliding door dated 1962... Just another bit of useless
trivia...
