Poor Lee!

Man u must have had a mission trying to restore yours back in the day.

The lack of parts was one of the reasons i moved away from the stickshifts... as well as the high ratio gearing (not baja friendly obviously :) )

Mind you, if my plans were to keep it as a standard beetle, i would have kept it stick shift. Out of all the variations of the bug available in the 1500 series, its the most unique, and limited. Like, the 'exclusive' of the lot. That would make it worth while i rekon.

This is my personal opinion, i would certainly assume alot disagree. i guess u gotta own one and play with one to love it. Ahhh... those handbrake skids and drag starts in the backyard lol. Every splinter in that fence musta been shaking when i was locking up closely to it lol. Those were the days... (before manual conversion)

Yes Chris

it took Me about a year to get it into gear... lol
finally took a few of My books to a local mechanic and He told me I was adjusting in the wrong direction.. lol
once that was sorted...
I started to have other problems then ..lol

anyway, now its all sorted and goes great.....

just had a new BP servo open in Scone a few months ago, and have been getting My fuel there..

Found out My beetle engine doesn't like their ethanol 91RON
after filling up in Sydney...
now goes even better... lol

cheers

Well, just about! Try Stokers or Volsbahn too. Volksbahn seem to have a lot of the more esoteric little gems, and you have to try real hard to get more esoteric than what you are after.

Far simpler to get a second hand (and TESTED) control valve assembly. Nick at Volsparts may have some lying around, or there is always TheSamba classifieds.

Hmmm. maybe when i'm really bord i should make some moulds. won't be for a few yrs, but because there is no market at all for these things, it would make it high demand for the single manufacturer.

Wouldn't be hard. just timely. Hardest part would be getting a sample to make the mould. i have only had experience at making green sand moulds for malten aluminium casting. that was fun. Got to save the world with my other projects first.

Autostick owners don't want to go back to 3 pedals...

[size=12]
2 pedal beetles forever

Hi Chris

You could sell them to the USA...
there are thousands and thousands of Autostick Karmann Ghias in the USA plus all the beetles...

hardest part is getting the correct rubber??
for the diaphram

maybe there are some carby diaphams out there that could be cut down to fit the autostick control valve...

If only We knew.... lol

Lads,
Apart from the blow moulds (or whatever) to fab the two diaphragms, the hard part is fitting them in a non-destructive manner.
