[VIC] Parting out 73 L-bug + Webber
Hi all,
The time has come to get rid of my first and much loved car - a 73 L-bug.
Some general pics:
You can see more of the car here:
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=30900&page=1
Selling as parts only, as whole as possible. i.e. prefer to sell dash as a unit rather than sell the switches off it etc.
Features:
-German bumpers, rear is mint, front is very good (rear now sold).
-Alloy running boards
-V-force adjustable struts and camber
-Interior (seats, carpets) in excellent condition
-Console with tacho and O2 metre
Things NOT for sale at the moment:
-Engine (including carbs)
-Wheels
-Stereo system
Given the amount of parts I don't think it's feasible to list them all and put prices on them, so post or PM what you are interested in and I will
reply with prices.
Offers on whole car (less things listed as not for sale) will be considered.

Why are you parting it out? Rust?
I'm interested in rear seat belts if not frayed or seized in one adjustment position (like mine) and also the carpets.
I may also be interested in the front door trims and seats.

Reasons for parting it out are a few, yes there is some rust and some not so great repairs in the pan and paint is aging pretty badly now. Also, tried
to sell complete with everything included and no-one was interested at a bargain price. Worth more as parts to me. Also have a fastback I'm doing up
and I don't need/can't afford another car anyway.
Rear seat belts are original and in good condition (VW logo and all), no fraying, slightly faded - $50 for the pair.
Front seats are very good - passenger seat has a minor tear (about 10mm long about shoulder height when seated). Have had covers on the entire time
I've owned the car, they are the dual rail type - $200 for the pair
Carpets, no tears or holes. Some minor wear in the drivers footwell. Would you like the rear quarter cards or door cards? Price depends on if you want
these too.
By front door trims do you mean door cards?
Cheers,
Eden.

Hi,
Sorry, I don't recall seeing this car come up for sale on here. If it was before I bought mine I may have taken a look at it!
- Rear belts: I definitely want the rear seatbelts at that price provided they can be adjusted for fatter/skinnier passengers. My
rear belts are immaculate but have sat so long in one position they will not move at all. (I've tried working them with screwdrivers, swearing at
them, putting them in boiling water, even WD40 and they just won't shift )
- Seats: Decided I'll stick with my original front seats, as they only have a couple of minor tears under the covers and I want to upgrade to
Recaros or similar in future. But what about selling the REAR seat base (My rear seat base is total crap under the covers.)
- Carpets: sound interesting. Only really need the two front floor sections but may take the lot.
- Door trims: Yes, I do mean the front door cards. I'm particularly interested in the passenger side one if they are really good nick and you will
seperate. May take both dependant on price. I don't need the rear cards.
Cheers,
Brett.

Hi Brett,
Pretty sure the rear belts adjust fine - can't say for certain but will check it out when I'm home tonight.
Door cards are not standard, they are 1.5mm aluminium with black carpet covering - have holes for 6" speakers (speakers included at no cost:P). They
have original handles and latches in good condition. They fit well and are really solid. - $50 for the pair
I'd prefer to sell the carpet kit as it is a full kit and as it all matches up there's not much point in just having a couple of bits left over. -
$100 for the full carpet - front footwell, front seat, rear seat and side pieces. Think it is 5 pieces all up. It does not have pieces for the cards
below the rear seats.
Rear seat base - you mean the steel beam that goes across the car that the seat sits on, or the cards below it?
If you're anywhere nearby feel free to drop by and check everything out - more than happy to have visitors.
Cheers,
Eden.

Hi Eden,
If you could check out those rear belt adjustments, that would be great.
By rear seat base I meant the base cushion - the bit under the passengers bums. I've go a seat cover over mine to hide the gaffa tape holding it
together, but the backrest (behind teh shoulders) is perfect.
I'm not interested in those door trims I'm afraid, I'd prefer to keep the standard look.
I live near Werribee, so I am a fair old distance from you. It'll probably be a week or so before I can get out your way in daylight hours. There
might be other small bits you have on the car that I could use.
Still seems a shame to wreck it though. I kind-of hope for the car's sake someone wants it complete less engine.
Cheers,
Brett Nicholson

Ah righto on the seat base - again I'd prefer to sell the two parts, back and base as a unit if possible. Both are in excellent condition with no
rips. $100 for both bits.

- Rear seat belts are sold
- Interior carpet is pending sale
To answer questions:
- Front truck boot liner is a custom tool-box carpeted in black. This toolbox sits above spare wheel, liner is carpeted over fuel tank. Very good
condition and pretty cool/useful too. Will dig out some photos if you want. $100
- I don't do ebay. Nuff said.
- I was asking $4.5k for whole car, engine/carbs/wheels/suspension is worth more than that alone.
- the engine is a 1600 TP with twin 36IDF Webers (genuine Italian) with about 25000ks since full rebuild. Keeping this in case the engine in my
fastback craps itself.

I'll pass on the scratch plates.
As far as the handles, are they original German items? I would be interested if there's no marks (rust, pimples, scratches etc). If you're ok
separating them, how much do you want for one only, with postage to WA?
Thanks

Agreed!
However I may be interested in the bumpers. What's with the metal plates on the front bumper? Is that a cover over the indicator holes? i've not
seen that before.

Toni, PM sent.
Tam, bumper prices are listed above if you missed them - the plates are actually LED indicators, a small slot has been cut for these. If you did not
want to use them it would be easy to cover the holes with new trim (just electrical tape BTW).
Aussie Dubbin, we shall see what is left over after it's been picked clean so to speak.
