Speed camera proof number plates

Hi

The broke NSW government is about to introduce mobile speed cameras, al-la Victoria.

So we will all be driving around with our eyes on the speedo and not on the road and having nose 2 tail crashes, they've going to also drop amount of grace given to being just over the limit, they can make more money that way.

I've noticed quiet a few cars with what appears to be a film over the number plate, that at certain angle the writing on the number plate disappears.

Does anybody know where you can get this coating or film?

quite illegal Steve.. lol

stop and ask where they bought it??

in the country, many cars have plastic number plate frames
and when they fill up with dust, You can't see the plate.. lol

also on very muddy 4WD & cars....
You cannot see the rear plate...

LEE

that is also illegal..lol

hahahaha good one Craig ,but the fine for that would probably be bigger than the speeding fine, plus these days they have vehicle recognition cameras on the side of the road that can pick up unreg or stolen plates and his friend down the road picks you up instead:lol::lol::lol:

maybe you need one of these

In Qld a mobile speed camera can't take your pic from in front as the Flash from the camera can be dangerous. The vehicle that has the speed camera in it must be parallel and horizontal at the side of the road, they must be clear of other cars parked ( i think its 40m) they are also signed ( normally past the camera) 99% of the time they stick out like a sore thumb and its the motorist thats really not thinking about driving that will get a fine.. For all the time they have been in Qld and the K's I do for work its really easy to spot them.

I can't believe a Private company will now be utilised and supplying 6 white ford territories. They will also share part of the profit no wonder Macquarie Bank is trying to buy the company.

These cameras are state of art and can take up to 6 photos of cars at a time. This is the first stage with more cars to be rolled out in the future.

Hi All, many moons back, one of my fishing buddies who dabbled in electronics had a hairbrained scheme, he told me that the speed cameras of the day had a power output of 50khz and that the old paper echo sounder(fish finder for boats) put out the same 50khz, so we sat an old fish finder on the floor of a car, supplied 12v to it, mounted the transducer under the front bumper (facing forward) and then spent the next 2 days trying to find a camera car!!! anyways, we spotted one and parked our car on the opposite side of the road a couple of house blocks from it and facing the camera car, turns the fishfinder on and instantly the camera cars flash go's ballistic!! I mean it wouldnt stop flashing, the bloke in the car seemed to get excited and then the flashing stopped, mind you during all of this there were no passing traffic, he sat there for about 10 minutes then the flashing started again but only for a couple of seconds. He then got out of the car and packed up the gear and left!! Hence to say that over the next few months the local boating shops had a run on early model fish finders. later on the radar went to "K' band and the fish finders had no impact, so the craze faded as quick as it started but shit it looked funny:lol: cheers Frank

Hi

These new speed cameras have an infra-red flash so they can take photos both ways and at night.

The cars I've seen with these disappearing plates have all been new NSW Premium style plates and black with white writing or visa versa.

When I follow these cars in laned traffic and catchup or fall back the writing on the plate comes and goes.

yeah Steve,

i've seen a few variations here.....

one set of covers seem to have an angled pattern molded into the inside of the cover. it only allows you to view through from straight on.

this is set opposite on each half of the cover so only when at an angle.

i thought my eyes were shot as i walked past the back of the car.........must have looked a treat slowly pacing back and forth checking it out

As Vlad said, all the things to stop the camera identifing the plate are BS - my suggestion, don't speed, then if you get a ticket contest it. There was a story in the paper the pther day, about 80% of contested speeding tickets are thrown out if you have a good record and were only marginally over the limit.

Hi again, rang my electronics buddy to rehash the old days and this scenario in particular, he remembered everything but pointed out to me that it wasn't 50khz it was 50 mhz ( mega hurtz or something)? anywayz, just on speed cameras, I am convinced that they are just a way of collecting revenue, receiving a camera fine in the mail is no different to shutting the gate after the bull has allready pissed off!! if you are speeding and potentially about to be a fatality, the fine aint going to be a deterent for you!! so in all honesty, one eye on the road and the other on your speedo at all times!! just dont speed. and for all that change their wheel size, get your speedo recalibrated to suit. cheers Frank

Hi

There was guy caught driving around in in Sydney's west last week, he had amassed about 156 demerit points from speed cameras.

He didn't break the speed limits by any more than about 10kph and only did it over a short period of time, so what sort of deterrent was the camera?

None! What would have been a deterrent was being pulled up the cops.

But cops cost money, far more than cameras.

This is also illegal in most states-

Clear lacquer your plates and while still wet sprinkle with salt-after lacquer is dry wash salt out and you have a fairly reflective surface- try pic with flash on your camera

Ha, just enforce the rules we have and ya MIGHT stop the idiots, I just arived home from a run up the F3 from Sydney to Newcastle, buggy is flat out trying to do 110 but sits on 95-100 ok speedo reading, stuck it in the slow lane and passed so many dickheads in the center and right hand lane that it was like I was driving a supercar and the confusion in those two lanes was something to see, enforce the keep left unless overtaking rule would be a start. Revenue raising!, not likely mr. citizen.

Every car pulled up in NSW for a breath test - the rego numbers and Your licence numbers are put into their computer...

If either are dodgy...

You won't be driving away... lol

LEE

PS: there was a movie.. a very old movie... where the licence plates flipped over...
closest I ever had was My front plate on hinges so when I went fast the plate went under the bumper...lol
that was a long time ago... lol
what We need now is rear plates to flip over or at least be covered over when going thru speed cameras...

Bloody NSW government revenue raising again. If they really wanted to reduce speeding and traffic accidents, wouldn't more marked cars be the way to go. If cost is the issue, paint up some old VN Commodores and EA Falcon's and park them by the roadside. I bet we'd all slow and be on best bahviour if we saw them around, even if they had no one in them. I reckon they'd also reduce crime. Bet that's a side effect Ms Keneally and her chronies never considered.
