Hi newbie from Fraser Coast Qld

Hi I have joined the Hubby and myslef up.
I love beetles and have always wanted one. Herbie was my favourite movie as a kid. My Mum's only ever new car was a 63 beetle and it caught fire so she wouldn't let me have one.
Now I am a mum to 4 kids aged 3-15yrs and just had the idea Yesterday of buying a old bug and putting it in the shed as a present for my very un-diy Husband to learn with.
He loves cars but does not have the skills and I thought the basic mechanics of a Beetle would be alot simpler then say a old mustang and with the help of our family Mechanic he could learn to do the engine work. And maybe eventually our daughter would get to learn to drive in it. (I feel you should always learn in a manual which due to being in a car accident and having pelvic injuries I can no longer drive and so we only have a Auto at the moment, oh how I miss driving a manual it just feels different).
So now the research starts and the learning and of coarse the bargain hunting. We have a extremely tight budget with 4 kids lol, that all have some health issues.
The funny thing was a half hour after I had this idea he came out and asked if one day he could get a old car to tinker with and do up. LOL
So hopefully someone on here will know of a beetle that doesn't need too much work and is cheap. I have a 15yr girl dreaming of learning in a Beetle and a Hubby dreaming of learning how to do things LOL and I am dreaming of seeing a beautiful Beetle in my Garage.
I look forward to getting to know you all.

Sounds like an awesome plan!
Where are you in the Fraser Coast? I live in Hervey Bay and recently bought my first VW too.

When I was interested in buying a Beetle, I found 90% of them all seemed to be situated down is Brissie:td:
$5000 seemed to be the typical price for a Superbug or standard Beetle (depending on what you want) in usual condition.

Id reccomend you (or your husband) read over as many threads as possible in this forum (and others) and even grab some old manuals to get your knowledge up to date with Beetles.

Thankyou for the welcome.

Ryana89 I am in Maryborough.

Gayndahkombi as I said above the budget is very tight on this lol so how much were you looking for? and can you send pics.

We are now thinking of letting our DD's BF help on this, figure it might be good for him. Have to put the idea to his mum and him first and sort out $.

LOL hubby just revealed he is not that into VW's it is more for my benefit. LOL I think once he starts working on one he will understand why I love them sooooo much.

Oh and I got it wrong it was my uncle that had a 63 my mum had a 57. Oh if only one of them still had it. She must of had it for a long time b4 it caught fire as she had my cousing in it and he was born in the mid 60's and when she talks about it he was around 8 at the time. So I reacon that was a good run silly woman not letting me get one for my first car. LOL
