Eastern Creek In-Car + Results 2:00.14
Check out the spin at the 7:50 minute mark.
The results are now at Natsoft.com.au
I'm happy. I did a PB and got very close to cracking the 2 minute mark with a 2:00.14 into a stiff headwind down the straight. If I'd known I was
that close I would've had another run.
That placed my oval 51st out of 97 cars.
Jak placed 41st with a 1:58.41.
Troy Traeger placed 43rd with a 1:59.00.
The fastest time of the day was an Evo X which did a 1:47.14

The "click here" bit is a link.
You may have been a bit quick of the mark. I tried to embed the video but it didn't work, so I went back and created a link.

It was so much fun I can't wait to get out there. Jak and I were a bit disappointed we weren't in the same group because we didn't get to hang
around and talk crap, which is where we really excel.
Nathan Abbott's green machine will join us next year which is awesome. We'll have to get more serious and determine a proper event calendar.
I've also be researching a ZF diff, which is, I know, eating my own words.
I think my front bar is 16mm and the rear is 18mm. Either way both are small.
Col, I'll see you Saturday. I'll try the same manoeuvre on the way into your driveway in the Jetta.
I with I had some more video. There's some keener driving later in the day.

you don't need a ZF diff at this stage IMO, just some more work on your suspension setup and driving techniques.
I think if you watch the video properly you will learn a lot on how you can improve your times...............I'm not trying to be a smartarse, but
that car will easily get times under 2mins.

Hi CT
Looks good, were you on max revs on the main straight, it sounded like you were backing off at times. Maybe a ZF and a 5th gear.

Hi Paul,
I've never asked you what you do for a crust. Now, I'm guessing that you're a bank manager or some kind of money lender.
The run on the video was my first. I'm guessing it was about a 2:03. I got a braver as the day wore on and was braking way later into turn 2 and
charging harder into turn 4 and the turns leading on to the straight. There's probably still half a second in my driving, no doubt about it.
I think gears would really help. I'm changing into 4th exiting turn 3 and the turn on to the straight.
Steve, I think the engine was revving to a little over 6000 down the straight. I also noticed exiting turn 5 in 4th was 4200 which felt a bit
soggy.
I think I need a bigger ring and pinion. Has anybody got a 3.88?
CT

gday my1916 ran a best time of1m50.2 in a 890kg LBUG at the creek but i drove it very hard reving it to 7500 all day, shit loads of opposite lock,
you really have to drive the thing on the edge when u have little cubes, some bigger balls will help as well, if you cant hear the tyres screaming
for grip under brakes or cornering you not driving it your just steering it around the track. you know what i mean valvolene cheers Rudi

Troy from newcastle area ran a 1m59 in his 3j club car think hes running a durie spec engine with fuel injection.John Molenoux also ran a 1m 56 in his
69 beetle back in early 90s on crappy a008s, but an under two litre car still needs to be driven agressivly to get below that 2min mark. And there
was that other bloke Zanello 1m 52s bet your poofa valve was sqeezed tight doing those lap time and bet u wernt having a nap half way round
either.Cheers Rudi

yes Rudi the aircooled 2 litres do it tough at the creek to do those times in a beetle i think u would need about 150 bhp in a car that weights 900
kilos with driver..then it has to last 10 laps in a race hard work

It's one of the best in-car videos I've seen. Which camera? How was it mounted?
It sure looked like a lot of fun.

HD Co Pro
We've been doing a lot of videos for the Yokohama ADVAN YouTube
Channel.
The HD (High Definition) GoPros are inexpensive at $399, durable, light weight and have heaps of mounting options.
You can get them from V-Sport Click
Here. I broke one of the clips and V-sport had a spare and sent it to me for nothing.
The one in the video was mounted to the passenger window with a suction cup mount which is quick to do. I find you get too much vibration from the
rollbar mount. The passenger window is dampened by the rubbers and felts around the window.

I've been looking at one of those cameras for club drives (When I get the car on the road) and bush bashing. A mate of mine has one that he mounted
to his surf board - footage is awesome.
Here is a link to the manufacturer if you want to check them out
