HSRCA - Wakefield 18th 19th Sept


Hi All,

I've signed up for this HSRCA event that will be 2 days at Wakefield, seeing my car is to slow to be competitive i'm doing the regularity competition.

The most consistent wins, so I figure if I drive flat out all day i'm in with a good chance or setting regular times. :lol:

If anyone else is keen; have a look on the HSCRA website, (link below) and sign on this week as entries close 27th August.

It's a bit pricey but you get 2 days of track time and should be an interesting mix of cars and people.

Yeah, there is a big discounted invite for MGs' and austin sevens' but I just spoke to the secretary and they didn't seem to have a problem with a VW so i've paid and entered. But i'd say the normal english automobile set will be there, MG, Mini, Jaguar, Lotus etc...

The supp regs are on the HSRCA website if your interested, it would be good to have another VW if thats what your running.

Really looking forward to this, i'm getting new shocks (bilstein) before the event so i'll be able to see the difference at wakefield from my VW nationals times.

If you are keen talk to wes, he's a seppo and his number is on the website where the regs are.

Hi All,

Great weekend out racing, well regulating. The first event on Saturday was the practice, and then it was followed by a 22 lap (I did 18) or half hour enduro regualirty which I came second in!! Beaten by a mini but nearly got up there.

The rest of the time I came 5th, and 9th. And I didn't take the last run of the weekend as it was the very last event of the day and had a big wait from my last run.

Was chuffed with the performance of the car, the old stock 1300 with extractor and 009 managed to pull a 1:34.7 best time!! Although not quick it is a hell of an improvement over my supersprint numbers in May of 1:41 something!! :D

You know your doing something right when an Austin Healey driver demands to see your engine, then asks if you have a full race license, and then asks if he can follow your line around the track. The car was quite swift around the top section of the track. It was from about the fishhook on that I lost out. But often I caught them under brakes into turn 1 and got a bit of a draft up the hill!! :spin:

I will post pictures up when I have them.

On the way home too, I saw Steve and Dave Carter on their way back from Canberra, and a Ghia.

Do you have anymore plans for the car as far as modifications go?

That was John Vellis in the Ghia, we travelled down to Canberra together.

Plans for the bug involve more power!!! I just need a bit more guts down the straight bits.

I also got some Second hand Vee tyres off one of the historic vee guys, so they will go on the car, and maybe a bigger front sway bar.

Biggest addition I think at the moment is a compensating bar for the rear. just trying to find a good second hand spring to put on :yes:

Theres a few rough edges that need some touching up like a headlight lense and stupid not structural/mechanical things that scrutineers like to pick on, on the weekend the bloke who went over my car was trying to say some rust at the tip of the bonnet was going to weaken the car... what a joke. :lol:

Heres some of the pictures that my girlfriend took, but i've got a CD of photos from a photographer coming, after seeing some of them at the track they got the "action" shots of the un compensated swing axle at work! :D
